Hi, Just got an allotment and would like to grow some blue/straw berries and kiwis. Before buying (they are quite expensive and gold is scarce here unless I dig up some from the allotment) any I wanted to check if maybe someone here has some plants to give away. Thanksalotsamuchomas!

An Argie in Wales
Hello
it may be worth talking to some of the people on your allotment. I had only been there about a week when I was offered strawberry plants. Now I have been given 6 rhubarb crowns as well.
By the way, where in Wales are you?
cj :)
Hiya there,
Thanks for the suggestion. I am in Newport, South Wales. I will mention it to my neighbor allotmentees (?) if that's spelled correctly.
Thanks

JC....nice to have another Taffy on board.

where does "Taffy" come from??
Dont know where it originated, but it's just a name we use for the Welsh. There is a river Taff here. Perhaps that's got something to do with it ???

Just been googling, and according to Wikipedia:
QuoteTaffy is a sometimes pejorative term for a Welsh person or thing. It is derived from the Welsh forename "Dafydd", or "David" and is documented from the year 1700 onwards.[1]
It is also frequently suggested that it is a reference to the River Taff in Cardiff, the Welsh capital, and one source attributes this use of Taffy as a reference to Amaethon, who steals from Arawn in the 6th century poem "Cad Goddeu".
I was interested as I'm Welsh, but from the North, and I have always associated Taffy with South Wales, not sure why, although maybe because of the river.
being Irish i have a close affinitly with the welsh :-)
Quite interesting!
I was also wondering what Taffy meant. My wife is Welsh from Pontypool, and I am Argentinean! However for obvious reason I was "moved" to Wales. We have a lot of Welsh people in Patagonia, Argentina.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
