Step out at 11pm tonight and see the moon go a bright shade of red.
Just to let everone know ;)
The clouds have come along to spoil the show here in the Welsh Valleys >:(
cj :)
all nice and clear here. Great view of moon from back door so happy as always miss these spectacles due to cloud!
Looking quite dramatic out there 22.12
We have been watching it develop since 8pm and its totally amazing.
It looks lovely :) I climbed up onto the table under the bedroom window to watch it .. I'm lucky to be alive :o The woodwork in my house isn't safe!
I shouted out of the window to my next-door neighbour .... "CYNTHIA!!! LOOK AT THE MOON!"
She hasn't spoken to me for the past 3 yrs and she didn't reply. Oh well ;D
so spooky
Do you know Cynthia then Markfield?
such a lovley big face!
And a voice-box to match!
and in the West Midlands
East Midlands actually ... but she's originally from Canada!
as I sit here in the West Midlands gazing up at the lunar eclipse after a night out
a couple of lemonades under my belt, all I hear is the mouse traps going off in the greenhouse
romance is not dead!
Hey, it looks like a big Pumpkin in the sky,XXJeannine
Is it still visible, and if so which direction should I be looking in Surrey?
The moon is normally out the back window, but today I can't see it anywhere.
Nice and red, i couldnt be bothered seting up the scope for a look and a photo.
Just pleased that i managed to see it.
Here's my photos, eventually started to freeze out there, brrrrr it's cold! Sorry to those on dial up, there's quite a few photos, I got carried away.

WOW nice photos, makes up for me not seeing it
any ideas on which direction it is in? is it still visible?
GrowingChillies, if you go out now, it's still very dramatic: most of the moon still eclipsed. It's very high in the southern sky, so you should be able to see it if the skies are clear your way.
And Leonnie, thanks a mill for the pictures -- now I can show Small Triffid what he missed... it would have been cruel to wake him; he's not a night-owl! :)
Lovely photos Leonnie...you should be very pleased with youself...thanks for sharing them with us...I just keep popping ouit to see what' s going on and it's started going white from the left side now....
Here is my image.

Beautiful pictures - thanks folks 8)
Watched it last night, looking a bit odd hanging out in my pjs at the front door (I live on the main road). :) Went all pinky and then I was too tired to watch longer. But very cool. Love those photos too! Thanks for posting them.
Tina.
Fantastic photos 8)
I watched it pretty much right through, no chance of sleeping so I worked on
my laptop which is in front of the window where it was best seen,It started off to the left of me and ended up on the right, amazing I had never watched the moon like that before,it just crept along( well I know we did but...) It was a bit creepy at one point but very fascinating . The pictures are wonderful, thank you so much,I will share them at school with the kids if that is Ok with the photographers, XX Jeannine
I thought it was the most amazing night.
Such stunning pics.
Leonnie your fifth pic was when my son decided the moon looked like an acorn ;D
Jeannine, no problem to show them around, hope they enjoy :)
I was in the pub and missed it, top photo's though. ;D ;D ;D
Excellant photos have shown it to the grand kids as they were all in bed

Fabulous pictures, my equipment isn' good enough for that, but here is a picture of my granddaughter and her friend who came to stay. We had a sort of eclipse party, with nibbles and pop!
Neither of them brought a coat and they got cold outside so they wore granddads.
The smallest one is my granddaughter, Elisha, she took her hot drink out with her as you can see ::)

We went for a walk to keep watch on it happening, the sky was clear all the stars were bright the shadow had just covered the moon when this strange thing came over the roofs and floated away in the distance. itwas just like a balloon with a candle in it, iy couldn,t be a candle I know that but thats what it looked like. no we hadn,t been on the juice this lad was passing and was puzzled as well.
any idea,s? is there a new toy out.? it was quite spookie with the moon in shadow and this light floating away from us tillit disapeared

Gutted :'( I was eclipsed myself by about 10 last night and now I can't see any of the pics posted here either.... >:(

Wonderful pics Leonnie, clearer than the real thing from here - too much light from the city to see it properly.
Still can't see them but hey! ev'ry eclipse has a silver lining...clicked on the Argos link & made a couple of bob for the site instead :D

wow those pics are great guys. I had heard about it but only saw it cos my dog had wandered into next door and had to come out and get him. It looked amazing, 3D in effect. I would post my pic but I had a few drinks and realised today I had taken a video of the moon.....not a hollywood blockbuster I'm afraid.
great pics thanks for sharing ;)
Finally I get to see the pictures. Fabu-bloomin-oso they are. Well done everyone 8)
My OH and I really had a great view it was such a clear night. Just like the fantastic pics (which were brilliant)! Quite awe inspiring! busy_lizzie

It probably was a candle, suspended beneath a very small "hot air balloon". We saw loads of them passing over my daughters house, last Nov 5th, and in the wind they were moving quite fast then. But your right, at first sight they are extremely spooky.
