mmm, I'll definitely be going to see it when it comes out - also one of the film characters is growing sharks fin melons - wasn't someone asking about them ...

Yeah I saw it Katie.

Its all about refugees being given plots to tend as an idea by their social worker (?) and how things materialise from then on. Looks good and hopefully will be.

Sharks fin melons were mentioned in the clip where the old duffer was telling the Chinese bloke what he didn't want to see planted...a short list which included sunflowers and delphiniums lol!

I wouldn't have known about sharks fin melons if it were not for this site  :)

I really enjoyed the programme (have to admit to being a Monty fan anyway- sorry!). Thought it was great to see people just starting out and overgrown allotments, rather than the usual perfect plots! Shame they only gave it half an hour. Looking forward to the film.

I think the sharks fin melons was meant to shut the old man up. I took it to be a joke, cos he was saying he didn't like some other things

I enjoyed the clip of the fim, but I have to say I thought the rest of the programme was pretty grim.I know not alot can be done about the pouring rain, but there was nothing new or interesting. As for the plotters being interviewed, Why oh why were they made to stand and 'smile' at the camera. They looked like they wanted the soggy ground to swallow them up.

I was hoping for some tips and lots of footage of plots with the ideas in action. It was OK , but not very informative. Then again, if it encourages anyone to take on a lottie, then that cant be a bad thing.

It is correct what Monty said about allotments being fashionable - just found out that there is a 4 year waiting list at ours now

I was so lucky as I am their latest recruit and only waited 9 months

looking forward to see the film    :)

I watched this with my OH, not knowing it was about allotments!  The new veg patch has always been designated as 'mine', and he never showed any real interest in getting involved.  Strangely enough on Saturday morning he was full of questions, and has agreed to help with the building of the beds' edging, and has not moaned about the (small) cost it will involve! Worked for me ;D

I read in our latest Plotholder that the council are considering closing the waiting list for Worthing.  There must've been a real rush on in 2006 as we only had to wait a few months for ours last year.

That film looked quite good.  "Yer not growin drugs are yer?!"
