Tesco is planning to build a new store just a stone's throw away from where I live. In winter, I reckon I'll be able to see its roof. They already own the site and have just submitted plans.
It's not even as though it's needed. We already have Waitrose, Sainsbury, Asda & Morrisons but they are the 'other' side of town and some people on this side are therefore in favour of a new superstore. I'm not - the roads around here are busy enough as it is.
To make matters worse, it's just been announced that Netto or Aldi are planning to build opposite the Tesco site :o. Well, we could do with a 'cheapie' place in town (we don't even have a Wilkinsons) and at least I could buy gardening things cheaply. I'm sometimes quite envious of the offers I see advertised!
I know I sound like a NIMBY, but two new stores on my doorstep! Grrrrrr!!
I'm sure that it's "by public demand"??
Still - at least traffic levels will reduce in your area if they build a tescos with a petrol station ;D
People in Norwich have been battling for a long time to stop another one being built [we have loads already] so far they have been successful but Tescos keep appealing & trying different designs so I've a feeling they'll win in the end. Good luck if you intend fighting them.
