Title: Soon to have an allotment
Post by: Kendy on February 27, 2007, 21:17:18
Going to look at my 1st allotment tomorrow.  Only been on the waiting list a week and they have a half plot for me !

I say 1st allotment, used to help my Father many years ago so hopefully I can recall some of the experience.

Fingers crossed for a good pitch - not even seen the site yet.

Went to have a look today.  If I had a choice it wouldn't have been the plot I would have picked - next to the tall wire fence bordering the British Legion car park so a bit of blown rubbish and a few bottles.  Ground wise, it is a little waterlogged in places but I guess thats the lower lying areas at the edges so you can see it has been cultivated not too long ago. Should be OK once I've spent some hours digging it over.

Only been on the waiting list a week so pretty chuffed to get one so quick.  Ran the lady from the Council and she is sorting the paperwork, arranging a key etc.

Will try and post a pic when I work out how to load direct from hard disk to here.

On our site, occasionally newbies get a rundown plot as that is what becomes available. Providing they appear to be putting the effort in they can usually request a transfer to a better plot as and when better one becomes available.

Just a thought for you to bare in mind..... ;)
