I just bought a fig. I was planning to get one from a special offer in the newspaper £9-99. Then i was browsing around the garden centre the other day and there was a big one with 50% off down to £7-00 so better than the stick from mail order. It's in a 5L pot and one branch is about 3 ft and the other 18ins it looks like a set of deer antlers.
So what is the best size of pot to plant it in to constrain the roots?
I don't know, I just wanted to say I've got a fig too, it's only 18 inches tall and I've put it in a 6 inch pot. ;D
I'm going to keep it indoors.

You might want to go up to a 10 litre pot this is what I have had mine in for the last 2 years this is sunk in the ground, it is recomended that you keep the roots restricted then the plant will fruit.
Paul,
That's only 2x bigger, will it be enough?. I plan to sink it into the ground.
Just been and checked, sorry I should have said a 20 litre pot. Last year the plant was loaded with fruit then the June drop came and left me with 4 figs never mind it can only get better.
My fig tree is in an old black dustbin, not sure how many litres that is, maybe 50? It's still a young tree, only about 2 years old and I got about 8 figs off it last year. Hoping for more this year.
Great that's helpful. I've got a better idea now what to put it in. Thanks.
