Hi all,
I recently bought some grow tubes from our local garden centre. They were reasonably cheap, and I thought I might be able to sow runner beans or some such in them.
I have just one question though.
How on earth do you get them to stand up once filled with compost?
I would put a load of them vertically in a seed tray held together with a large elastic band,
then fill them with compost.
Thanks dtw,
I tried standing them in a seed tray, but due to the fact that it wasn't full and the sides sloped, they just kept falling over. Never thought of putting something round them..Doh!!!!
Regards Alan.
I save those blue mushroom containers - they work a treat for tubes. Also put a used teabag in the bottom to help stop the soil falling out.
I knew you would come up with a good idea. Lish
brill idea, alishka, ;D
Lish top idea tea bag and all. ;D ;D ;D
Try grouping them in small bundles & put a elastic band around, it works for me
i use, used toilet rolls and i wedge them into a pot and then fill with soil.
water then I pop an old shower cap ( liberated from hotel stay ) and then after 2 days i plant the seeds as the soil will be nice and warm.
cheap, effective and envionmentaly friendly :-)
Good idea about warming the soil in the tubes cambourne, i wouldn't have thought of that x
Got the loo rolls just need a weekend break to get a shower cap! :)
