I just received an email from an old A4A poster, and it's the same old story: here's what he said, so I thought I'd tell folk here cos a lot more people read this than my diary! hope this is OK Dan...
I am currently petiting no.10 to save our existing Allotments from being
turned into housing estates we here at Canterbury in kent are down to the last 7
sites of which our local council does nothing my particular plot/site is
under threat from such house building even though there has been Allotment here
for over 60 years
I would be most gratefull if you could let people know about our petition

Signed !
With the happy expectation of a visit from "the Boys" - any boys actually, I'm off to sign right now 8)
now just waiting for the knock on the door.... ;D
This is a great one becuase it covers all plots not just one,
my names there
thankyou for the post.
DONE! And I've sent the link to many many thousands of other people as well. It never ceases to amaze me ... the Govt. bang on about the 'health of the nation', 5 portions a day etc.and then sell off allotment land so we have to buy supermarket s**te. Disgraceful >:(
Same here MrsKP think I might get a visit, be intresting to see how much my council tax goes up compared to everyone else ;) ;)
Done and forwarded to the South East
Only 61 signed up COME ON A4A we can do better then that
Just went to the site, but it says "deadline to sign up by 20th February". ???
it does say deadline for the petition is 20th feb but ive just voted so the petition must be still open for votes,so lets ALL vote now,its about time this so called working mans government was made to look after us workers
All done! Thanks Moonbells, for bringing it to our attention. It is a scandal! Will be interested to see Monty Dons programme this Friday about allotments and how come the demand to have one is so overwhelming but the alloments to be had are rapidly decreasing! >:( busy_lizzie
Deadline is 20th Feb 2008 ;)
done , hope it helps ;D
OOPS, silly me! :-[Off to vote now!
Those were the days eh... >:( when the labour party meant something to the working classes... just signed up but can't confirm if still open as not at home to confirm the e-mail...
:-\
Dont forget to involve the National Association of Allotment Gardeners if you haven't already - they have a little influence!
I had to go into town for a meeting on the train this morning and noticed a huge tract of unused land right by the railway line !!!
I wonder what good an e-mail to Glasgow District Council Land Services might do.
It's probably Rail Track land (or whoever they are these days) but I'll think on it later.
