there is a cockeral at the otherside off my girls run,he cannot get in though.thought he was from next doors but he says not,he will not go away.
Pauline
Cockrel Soup? ;D
He is very pretty if he gets in run and get to hens will my girls sit on eggs they are hybrids
Pauline
:D
hybrids hardly ever sit they are bred now to so let him in and have some fun :)
fun for whom? :o
exactly - girls never look like they are having fun. They run a mile though usually get caught poor things!
Oh sounds like another mouth to feed, what do you think he is breed wise, a cross with yours could be interesting. Get a silkie they are always sitting and do make great mums plus so funny little hens. I love my puff balls.
well the boys put georgie porgy in with my girls yesterday but when i got they today he was other side of fence its a 6ft high fence they must have chased him out somehow
Paula :)

Whats the latest on georgie porgy is he in or out :D
Hi Teresa
He is still out, i tried to catch him with no luck will have to get one of the boys to see if he can catch him again, i give him a drop of corn each day so he dont go hungry,he is so silly if he went futher up field he could fly over fence!
Pauline
Oh bless not much common sence then. Or have your girls frightened him ha ha. Where does he manage to sleep in a tree?
Not sure there are a lot of trees so maybe he does sleep in one, trouble is there have been foxes ,next door with horses lost over 30 chickens last year! think our dog stops any comming in our land we have a German Sheppard ,he loves the chickens tries to pick them up,he just wants to play with them!
Ah the smell of a dog will keep them away as with humane urine known some to pee near the hen runs foxes dont like it 8)
I remember mums old hens going into the trees to roost use to drive her crazy but they were safe up there. Chickens natural instints its wonderfull realy. ;)
My dogs terrier X wont go near the runs they get their noses pinched by hens. Hen pecked is the word that comes to mind. Hens do come out at times and the dogs ( bitches) move swiftly away cowards yes. But a local old tom cat the hens love him and rush to talk to him he will spend 5-10 mins with the girls and move on quite amasing.
Well georgie porgie is in run, huby and a friend somehow cornered him and he flew over fence we will see if he is still there tomorrow,he was settling in fine and eating corn with girls before we left, hope he still there in morning,he is really a pretty boy! :)
That is good news would love to see a photo of him.
