Hi all,
I have been given a Wolf Terrex Spade/Fork by my elderly parents. They bought it secondhand many years ago. I have just been using it for the first time, and it seems to have a very weak spring. The spring keeps on jumping off its mounting.
I have been looking on the net for anything to do with them, but all I have found is articles saying that Wolf stopped making them because of the cost.
It is such a wonderfull labour saving tool, that I was wondering if anyone knew of a supplier of spare parts for them. I think I only really need the spring.
A chap on our site hasgot one of these, but I too have only seen mention that they are not made any more. :( Someone should buy the patent and start them up again.

There are actually three springs on the spade. The biggest is a flat spring, connecting the handle to the spade blade. The next is a double armed curved spring which connects the main body to the 'foot'. The smallest is a double helical spring which seems to return the foot after operation.
If you mean the last, this can be tensioned by rotating the 'hook' around another turn (on each side). Use a screwdriver or pliers, else the wire can embed itself in your finger ...

Thank you for that info Derek. Yes it is the small helical spring which appears to have gone weak. The effect it has when it comes adrift (always on the left hand side) is that instead of throwing the clod forward and turning it over it just throws it up in the air.
Next time I go to my plot, I must remember to take a pair or two of pliers and try giving it another turn.
