Title: Anyone else still waiting for seed potatoes?
Post by: Marymary on February 15, 2007, 22:17:05
I ordered mine at the beginning of January & they still aren't here.  I emailed T&M but they haven't replied.  It would be good to know I'm not alone - unless of course I am.  :-\

I ordered mine back in October, along with shallots, onion and garlic and I haven't had ANY of it yet. I'm worried that I'm going to miss the cold spell that the garlic needs and also miss the boat on getting some good chitting time...
I also emailed them and have had no response, I must say I'm not very impressed. I was expecting a much better service from a company of that size. I don't think I'll bother with them next year, I'll do it with smaller companies who care about the customers...

I placed 2 orders with T&M, one posted to make use of some vouchers they sent as recompense for the botched rhubarb fiasco >:(.....and one earlier online order. So far have received one pack from the first order only. ::) Not impressed. I also emailed them and did get a response...

"Thank you for your email.

Your orders are in the process of being dispatched from our supplier, please allow at least 14 days for delivery.  Mayan gold tubers will be dispatched in March and Strawberries will go out any time."

I think we can all safely say we have left at least 14 days for delivery! I think part of the problem is that they do not state anywhere that I have looked exactly when the DO dispatch potatoes, apart from the late ones like Mayan Gold.....might have saved then a lot of emails if they had...!

My lottie shop selling seed pots this week. They've had onion & garlic in for a while. Mary, ring them direct, not so easy to ignore a phone call!

Typical!  They arrived today & also an email apologising.  Missing some free onion sets I had been promised 'due to unexpected demand' - a £3 voucher instead.  Altogether not terribly satisfactory, I shall try & get them locally next year.

Not good that we're all talking T&M  >:(

I also chased up a missing potato collection order and the big "planthouse" I ordered back in October this week to be told it had been dispatched in November  :(

After investigating their "tracking data" they then got back to say they had no idea what had happened to it. Apparently sending out replacements now.

Hopefully I'll also be tempting fate, and now they'll arrive on Monday   :o

Not quite sure what's happening with T&M this year.  Service doesn't seem to be as good as usual.

Why not send an email to Colin Randel crandel@thompson-morgan.com.

He quite a nice guy and, I think, would be very upset to hear that his company is not performing to the satisfaction of its customers.

I phoned Thompson and Morgan today re my missing stuff,I  had ordered potato plants( which I know are not dispatched until June,) but my other spuds, my onion sets, shallots, seeds, plastic growers bags and onion and spud fertilisers  had not arrived. They phoned me back a little while later and said the fertilisers, bags and seed spuds where dispatched on the 19th.Feb,  they have not arrived yet by the way, the shallots and onions are on back order and they don't know when they are getting them in so have no idea of dispatch date, and the seeds which they said were sent out on the 6th Feb  have not arrived so they are being replaced as lost in the post..  Is something going wrong with T&M this year. It is interesting that the spuds that have been dispatched were free with my potato plant order yet an earlier poster said they were not shipping them to her???? Sad to say I don't think I will use them again, it is just too iffy for timing I think. XXJeannine

Never used T&M for potatoes, but seem to remember people having similar problems with delivery last year too.

Never used this company T&M,or any other mail ordering seed company,  but after reading this thread I intend to steer clear of T&M in the future. I do feel sorry for you all.

Could you not ask for a refund due to the length of time you have been waiting?

Countrywide is stacked to the roof with them.

Just goes to show that chitting is not paramount - they'll never chit in time??
