When the soil's finally dry enough to walk on I'm going to be stripping an area of the lawn to make a new bed. And I was wondering whether I could use the turf (upside down) as a mulch along a beech hedge that I planted a year ago. I'd normally pile up the turf and leave it to rot down for a few months or a year before using it, but it would be handy to use it straightaway. Especially since I want to keep my precious - and not plentiful - compost for the veg patch.
Has anyone any thoughts/advice on this?
Thanks!
It's exactly what I've been doing for years! Go for it 8)
Sounds just what I'm doing though it's a laurel hedge.
Brilliant - thanks for the advice. Now I just have to wait for the ground to dry out ... maybe next year!
