Or rather, they are :D
As we had about 20 people interested, I made up 2 parcels so they'll get around everyone quicker. Both got away in the post today. If you're in London or Durham keep an eye out for a nice squishy jiffy bag coming through a door near you soon ;)
Full instructions enclosed (not that there were many! ;D)
Hope everyone finds lots of things they like and enjoys taking part.
Any problems, comments, questions etc, just ask :)
Lisa
aka CityChick
Yay! I was wondering whether it would be worth people saying if there's anything in particular they're after, so if we have a big choice of things to include, we'll know what to choose.
(And, um.. having assessed my seed-pile, I'm in need of some sweetcorn. ;)
Yippee!
Oh good stuff, Lisa, thanks so much for starting this off. ;D
G x
Ooo how exciting! Must get bagging the rest of my stuff
Hi, am I too late for this, I am new but would love to take part and I do have lots os seeds to share. What do I do next please. Thank you Jeannine XX
Hi Jeannine, sorry you are too late for this round of "pass the parcel". The details of everyone taking part have gone off with the seed parcels.
However I've deliberately kept the numbers low for each parcel (10) so it shouldn't take too long before it all comes back. And then, if there's enough interest, we can do it all again ;D So watch this space, as they say!
Lisa :)
xx
Thanks for sorting this out Lisa, I doubt it would have got off the ground without you.
Very much appreciated,
Jo.
Thanks for giving us your time and effort will keep a watch for the postie hope it is not too long before he arrives :D
Thanks for the compliments, but its really gonna be a team effort with everyone doing their bit as the parcel goes round :)
Plus bagging up all my spares and sending them off makes me feel slightly less guilty for all the seed shopping I've done in the last 12 months.... :-[ ;) ;D
Thank you Lisa, I will keep my eyes open for the next one. It is very kind of you to organise this. XX Jeannine
Well done Lisa - and us! Oh, what the heck, well done EVERYBODY!
;D
Hey, this huge amount of seeds arrived today. ;D
I've been very restrained (if only I had more room) but I couldn't resist a few French beans and a couple of courgettes. :)
Will post the parcel on tomorrow/Friday so if you are in Mid Glamorgan watch out for the postie. ;D
G x
found this new thread so have copied my post below:-
Woo Hoo! ;D
I have got the parcel! Am very excited and looking through my seeds right now! I also have some tiny zip bags and labels, which I can include for the next person to put seeds in.
Will post again on Friday (my mum wants to look too) - the next person on the list is Laura in Walton on Thames
Glad they both arrived promptly, and sounds like you're enjoying yourselves ;D
So far then, so good.... (phew!)

The parcel arrived today ;D ;D ;D Have done a bit of swapping, and it is ready to be posted off on Monday morning. It is a GREAT idea! It was such fun opening the parcel to see what goodies were inside.

cj :)
I would like to be on the next 'pass the parcel ' round please.
Arr, Cheshire.. it's getting close!
*gets excited*
cj - thanks for the update, glad it was a hit! ;D
Rosyred - interest noted ;) If there are enough peeps interested I'm happy to organise another one once these two have done the rounds, but I'm guessing that might not be for a couple of months yet.
Lisa

Only did a couple of swaps, but I have put it back in the post this afternoon.

Then the gardening fairies will be transporting it down Essex way,
trina x

Jo.
Coo coo ca choo

Nooo! Send it a little bit north! Cheshire's so close. :(
PS, add sweetcorn. :D
tht doesnt reallywer my question lol
Remember there are TWO parcels going around, so even if one parcel isn't headed your way, the other one might be.... :)
potterfanpete - the "pass the parcel" is a parcel of surplus seeds that is being sent around a group of players - like the game "pass the parcel". The difference being not only do you open it and take out what you like before you pass it on to the next person (by the royal mail) but you also add some of your surplus seeds in exchange.
this was the original thread that got it going:
http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/joomla/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,26/topic,25478.0
At the end it comes back to me.... and then, if there are enough people interested (3 so far without really asking!) we could do it all again :D
how much is postage???
Well that all depends on how big the parcel is! ;)
I think when I originally posted it off it was just under £1.50? I took part in a simillar swap on another forum and IIRC that one was a bit more, but still just under £2. Of course it all depends on how generous people are as it goes around (ie how big it gets).
Its only supposed to be a bit of fun, and a great way to pass on seeds you know you won't grow rather than wait and throw them out in a few years time....
And it all depends if you like surprises and are up for a bit of a gamble :D
Hi creckless it should be West not South Wirral is to the West........... ;D ;D
Mr Postman look and see if there's a parcel of seeds for me...................Walrus my Aunt Fanny.......... ::)
Managed to get the parcel posted today, sent first class so will hopefully reach someone in Essex.... whos name begins with an M. Who could it be??? he he
By the way Jo I'm in Wortley, and think your name could be on the list for the parcel thats on its way around the country.
trina x

Keep your eyes on the swap shop forum - not sure yet about the if, when, who etc of pass the parcel number 6!!
Yippee! Just got in from work to find a big prezzie!!
What a wonderful selection, and so much of it, too. I've been making my contribution up in anticipation and hope to have it on its way by tomorrow or Saturday - it'll be homeward bound, tired but happy, back to City Chick!
;D ;D ;D
Are we going to send it round again after that? ;D

Good gods, I've already got enough seeds to be planting. ;)
Though I could probably be tempted if we were to start off a flowers/ornamental seed parcel (as opposed to fruit/veg).
I thought I was on the list :'(. Were there 2 parcels? ::)
I've started 2 rounds, with 2 parcels in each round. Parcels 1 and 2 from the first round (this thread) are nearly done now.
Marymary - I've got you down for parcel number 3 (though its got a few other people to visit first...)
I haven't got any definite plans yet for when the parcels come back to me... I'm open to suggestions! ;D
Lisa
Fluffygrue, there were flowers and herbs in the parcel as well as fruit and veg. And there still are...!
;D
Thank you Citychick cos I'm really looking forward to it.
Suggestions with what to do with the leftovers - maybe send them off again but persuade someone else to take a turn at organising?
If you want to ship them over to me I will organise it again if you like, I do have a whole heap of seeds to add that folks seem to want. XX Jeannine
Just had a great time going through Parcel 2 and I've just (Sat) sent it on to Lowtown!
Cherry
Oh City Chick just read all the comments ...Just wanted to say that you have made so many gardeners happy ,... the waiting , anticipation, sorting through so many different seeds....passing on seeds to a good home .
For me as a new gardener it has been a great experience... it allowed me to try different varietys ...and the success is easy to see with the sheer number of pass the parcels on the go.
You have encouraged me to try and set up a seed swop at my allotment association...
Yes it would be great to keep it up ..as many seeds had long shelf lives ...or be in plenty of time for next season ?
But how can we best do that ?
You have done a fantastic job ...
Do you need a rest now??? or are you the the kind who loves being part of it ?
from your experience , how many per parcel is workable..how many parcels are doing the rounds ?
? how many who took part or missed deadlines would want to do it again.
How could we share out the workload?
One option may be to consider breaking into geographic areas ...Would that speed up delivery ??? and divide workload ...
Interested in others thoughts ...
:)
Willing to offer if needed ...i am in Sheffield ...or really happy to be in next round
Zoro
I would deffo like to do it again, Don't mind organising S.East if you do decide to do areas. :D
Would also like to do again!
Thanks again Citychick!
City Chick - has the parcel reached home yet?
Sorry, been a bit distracted by this big parcel of seeds that arrived this morning! ;D ;D ;D Yay!! Parcel 1 arrived back today, even fatter for its travels :D
Gotta dash now, but I'll sort something out for sending it around again... ;)
And parcel 2 should be back home soon too.... 8)
