Title: Mulberry Bush cuttings
Post by: beachlover on February 12, 2007, 17:41:16
I have access to an old but healthy Mulberry bush.
When is the best time to take cuttings and how, as it's due to be chopped down soon?

October! but there is no harm in striking a couple now, they may take but may just shrivel up and die. Make sure there are no more than two leaf buds above the soil as the water loss may be too much, as it hasn't had time to root well...

Oh rats ::)
Thanks for the help anyway.
I'll give it a go and keep my fingers crossed they don't redevelop that bit of the site until the winter then.
Do I have to have at least half of the cutting underground and in a mix of sand and soil?
