Title: rhubarb & Chickens
Post by: paulinems on February 10, 2007, 14:35:26
My girls have cleaned up some of the rhubarb patch ,we have a 1/4 acre but there is still 1/2 of it to do yet, and the rhubarb is now starting to grow through. will it hurt them if the were to eat leaves as i know the leaves are poison for us but is it for chickens or will they know not to touch it

Rhubarb leaves will not harm hens at all, few years ago my hens got to ours and I feared the worse.  :(
But no ill effect and found out on the net that the leaves in fact were a good wormer for hens, and many keepers grew rhubarb next to runs where hens could help themselves.  ;)
My girls left the stalks may be could not reach them so I got my crumbles ha ha.  ;D
