Title: Size of my Beds
Post by: Mrs T on February 10, 2007, 06:45:37
Hi everyone
I have started digging my newish plot over and after uncovering the plot I have discovered the beds have paths between them which I am pleased about.  The beds measure 20 foot long by just under 6 foot wide.
Is that about right?
Thanks

Hello Mrs T, most will recomend ideally a width of 4ft so that you can easily work the soil without having to walk on it from both sides, however some of my raised beds are 7ft wide and although I have to stretch a little they are fine for me to work with without me compacting the soil by walking on. Good luck with your 2007 growing season regards Steve.

I would leave them as they are. They are done for you, saving you loads of hard graft. Pleanty of tools will reach into the middle from either side. Yuo can always put a board down the middle to work from time to time. ;)
