what a day! gorgeous sunshine, it stopped raining 2 days ago so drying out nicely!
i managed just about a full day down the allotment and NGOH came along too and did manly construction type things :D. he put together a 6' x 4' plastic walk in growhouse thing that we got from safeway for £19.99 and was very pleased with himself!
its almost back to looking like a loved and cared for allotment now, we received donations of cabbage plants and tadpoles today and i managed to pass on some of the cabbages to the lads at the plot next door - first time we'd seen them. interesting gardening style they have - turn up in white shirts and designer jeans, dig a small patch then sit down and drink beer ;D !!
the weather is forecast to be even better tomorrow so provided i don't sieze up completely i should get caught up tomorrow!!
i am a very happy legless!
oh oh oh and more excitement! bees and ladybirds everywhere!!
Yup, plenty of huge bees and lovely ladybirds about our allotment lately lots of sunshine too today, husband there and grandson and granddaughter but not me :'(. Grrr. >:( Where was I? Shopping for clothes with my 14 year old granddaughter - I only had sons so this teenage girl shopping is new to me, I'm sure I was never like that ::)
Mission accomplished successfully tho and lots of nice tales from wee granddaughter (3) about cute snails and slugs!! Ah well there's always tomorrow - please don't rain!!
Oh, you lucky things!!!!
:'( :'(
It tipped it down with rain here!!
I popped down to the lottie briefly, and the weeds are growing well!! Actually I was dead pleased to see that the first earlies that I thought I had buried too deeply had finally emerged!
Hopefully weather getting better today (Sunday), working overnight and planning afternoon lottie trip.
I'm not at all achey - unfortunately! Been damp and mizzly here since Thursday - ghastly. Brightening up a bit today, might have a shot at a bit of digging this arvo if it holds up!

PS - The weather is brill this afternoon and spent four hours doing the old headless chicken impression at the lottie - which bit of work to tackle first? The weeding, cutting the grass, edging the plot, doing a bit on No 2 plot before it disaapears in a sea of green (weeds that is, not veg!) ?
In my joy at finally being outside I did a bit of everything - not efficient really, but felt good. Cleared a spot for the Vidalia onions I am trying this year and managed to get 40 plants in and then dug a tiny bit of No two plot sufficient for 10 tom plants.
Therefore pleased to report that I am very achey now and loving it!
AC x
Not too achey, but the pond now looks like a pond! Edges levelled, underlay in, liner in, pond filled! Looks great - two deep sections, one slightly less deep area for marginal plants, and a wet beach kinda area for boggy plants. Tomorrow, weather and children permiting, shed building and stone hunting for pond edging. Wonder if the local reclemation yard will be open tomorrow...
I had a quick look at the plot this morning...a carpet of dandelions and twitch, therefore headache!!
Sat in traffic jam for 2 hours on M42 this afternoon, therefore backache......came home at 6pm, had a couple of brandys to help ease the days woes, therefore (tomorrow morning) another headache!!
Life's not easy is it? ::)
uuuuuummmmmm-came back from visiting the aged mother to see that a snail had eaten an entire tray of baby lettuces-it no longer aches ;)
Stephan.
Very achey tonight as had a very full day working in glorious sunshine. Put sunscreen on today and wore sunglasses and my straw hat, but face still looking a bit betrooty.
First Sunday in month the Committe walk around the site and check the plots, so being a new member had my first walk around. Very interesting seeing what everyone else was up to. My Newsletter has now been delivered to everyone and it seems to have gone down well.
Spent most of the rest of the day in my home garden. The front looks lovely all done and looking lovely. Had heard Jo that it might rain tomorrow - hope you are right and I am wrong. I was feeling fine until I sat down for our evening meal and then I started to stiffen up. Wonder how many radox baths there will be tonight! ;D busy_lizzie
I find Radox smells nice but is ineffective for relieving pain, so I reach for the drugs! 2 paracetamol and you can move all those bits that have seized up and can start digging again! Sounds like this might help with your aches, too Chaz! ? ;)
No problems anticipated today as it is already raining!

Chucking it down here too!!
Never mind, have breakfast bar, will prick out seedlings!! Glad I got the worst of the weeds under control yesterday at the lottie.
So.... pricking out seedlings, then hoovering up compost from kitchen floor. I am lucky to have such an understanding hubby!!
Tina
well its cloudier than yesterday but still sunny here, unfortunately i have to work this morning (i work from home and am self employed so nothing too stressful!) and i think i have to go and sit in the pub this afternoon (not in whitley for those who know what its like here on bank holidays but byker) so the plot may have to wait! 8)
ache like mad today as ive overdone it this morning went at 8am
and didnt stop till i couldnt do anymore as there is always so much to do the suns been shining but now its trying to rain so it will be the greenhouses for me checking on the babies and creating more if i can find any space ;D ;D nothing beats growing things its heaven on earth i just love this time of yr so much right going to shower then spend a while in greenhouses hope everyone else is having a nice day too bye :D :D
Not been doing much gardening recently, but still achey and tired all the same.
Let me explain, spent the last couple of days doing a bit of hard landscaping or rather de- landscaping. We've decided to widen our patio, and with the garden slopong uphill from the house this has meant demolishing an old retaining wall (on last legs anyway) and a lot of digging to remove part of an old terraced flowerbed. This didnt have much soil in it so it was mainly chalky rubble. Which had to be carted off to the skip out the front (one large bucket load at a time). Still had help with the latter bit so not too bad, and almost finished too! :).
Just got to wait for our builder to come in and put a new wall up and a new 'floor' on the newly cleared area.
Needless to say today i am taking it a little easier (hence the session on A4all ;D). Might get out in the garden later if the rain holds off.
sounds like hard work richard!
the rain has arrived here now - oh well 2 dry days isn't bad for a bank holiday!
flower - dead satisfying though isn't it when you put in the hours you can acheive so much.
tina - i'm banned from using the kitchen as potting shed - hubby says its not right! ::)
lizzie - what was everyone growing? still seems quite bare on our plots - worryingly i can't see any other broad beans and i'm wondering if there is something bad that will happen that i don't know about!!
:-\
Aching from working hard yesterday, planting out sweetpeas and lettuce. Very disappointed with weather today. I planned to do lots but apart from potting on some basil and sowing more parsley I've been darting backwards and forwards to the house to dodge the rain. In the rainy bits I've tried again, in vain, to get in on the Chat line but the technical probs continue and I despair of ever joining all the regulars. Very frustrating to see what everyone else has written and to try and take part but no luck. Ah well. Now hoping for a dry spell, 40 mins will do, so that I can clean out my hens - not a nice job when it's raining! Back to work tomorrow :(
