Title: Cost of GLASS
Post by: KevB on February 06, 2007, 11:31:20
Where do you all get your replacement glass? I've just bought three panes 1 - 18" x 2' and 2 squares 2' x 2' cost £10.00, must have seen me coming I think!! (seen me through the glass) last time it was only £2 per piece?
perhaps its me being mean!

Did you ask for horticultural quality? It is usually a third of the price of 'house' glass

My dad was telling me that when he bought some glass recently, he noticed on the bill that he had been charged an "energy surcharge" of 95p. Anyone know what that's about?

My tame glass man charges 50p/sq ft for horticultural, so a 2ft square piece is £2.

Caroline, the energy surcharge might be one of those cover-all charges for (say) tipping their waste, in a similar way that garages apparently charge you for disposing of your old oil.

Geoff.

Why not put a request for old glass on your local freecycle?
