Just started snowing here in North Birmingham
Arghh !
Metcheck is currently forecasting significant snow in my area - Coventry - from Thursday morning, looks like weekend gardening may be curtailed ... :(
Derek
Woke up this morning with 1 inch snow - none forcast here at all and it is very rare for us to get any!!! on the Wirral by the way
Took ages to clean the car off as it had froze the doors as well. -6
Weather now sunny but cold
Just haerd on the radio that the Met Office are predicting severe snow for Kent on Thursday
Up north we've had sun since Friday, it makes a nice change ;) ;)
We had a few minutes' snowfall during a Geography lesson this morning, but it very soon melted.
here in Lincoln sun has been shining since sunday, hard frost every night though / shades x
Frosty morning here in N. London sun's been out most of the day but a bit parky, L J's were back on the menu. ;D ;D ;D
Essex is bright and sunny, but rather cold especially on the lottie at 8.15 waiting for me builder to deliver some scaffold boards for my raised beds. heard on local radoi that it was snowing in Suffolk though. Brrrrrr.
It can snow and freeze as much as it likes...I have just finished digging my lottie and the clods of clay are waiting to be broken down!
My back knows all about it...anyone got any radox??!!
Regards
Matt
I heard that also Tin Shed. Ipswich is pretty nippy apparently, and that ain't that far away! BBRR. I thought we were over this and could start planning Spring. Who turned the thermostat down huh??
frosty morning, but another beautiful, sunny day here - 5th in a row ? Very cold though.
OH reckons were forcast 5 inches on Thursday she'll be lucky. ;D ;D ;D
One of my students was a bit apprehensive today as he's going on a field trip to the Lake District next week and doesn't know what he's in for.
i'm just waiting to have to scrape the bubblewrap and fleece windscreen cover on the windscreen tomorrow morning ! - NOT.
we're forecast for sun all week (which has made tropical temps in the g/h) but ruddy cold outside.
hellebore picked up after this morning's frost, poor wee thing.
;D
Good old February - never lets us down!
;D
Well now, here in Belgium, a land of 4x4's and crappy operators there of, when the forecast say's 'Snow in the Ardennes,' the people in Antwerp, a hundred miles away or more, drive around with fog lights on front and rear and the local DIY shops run out of snow chains........I have to laugh......last time it snowed here was 1999 and it joooost about covered the road for an hour.
Should be lucky, it will turn to rain on the sunny sarf coast. I also turned a big bed over yesterday, so a bit of frost would be handy.
Fantastic frost this morning in Essex - but no snow yet, but haven't watched the weather forecast today so don't know what is expected.
-4.5 when I went to work this morning frost on the cars but not much on the floor, I walk to work so there's no scrapping for me, like Matty I'm waiting for my clods to break down. ;D ;D
NO snow here yet in Sth Lincs but expecting quite a bit tomorrow.
Still no snow here just a frost in Nottingham, but it is due this morning :)
I am glad I don't live on the north island. Just a little bit damp here.
We have got the best we have seen in years and it is still snowing! In Hampshire Ace, so you've only just missed out!

Yes I know I can see it from here. My friends have to try to get to Bristol for a cremation this afternoon, perhaps it will clear a bit later. If not they will have to phone them and ask the undertaker to keep him on a low light ;)
There's an inch if snow here in central Birmingham (where it's usually better than elsewhere), and I've just heard that all schools in Birmingham and Dudley are closed. I haven't phoned the college yet, but I may well be heading for a day off.
Well it has started to snow at last ;D
Hi
Yes were on almost 2 inches since 5.30am.
The roads around here have not been gritted or if they have its making no difference.
Snows still falling and its only -1.8
yippie
Cambourne7
( sent OH off with flask of hot coffee and his cold weather bag )
No one's leaving home today!!
Just a sprinkling then Tim ? ;D
Snowing in Cambridge. Only a bit a moment but not stopping. Schools mostly closed in preparation - after chaos in 2003 in Cambridgeshire I think everyone is very cautious. I'm sitting at home with a sore throat and temperature so not sure I will be out enjoying it ???
10 cm so far here in North West London and still snowing. Schools are closed. Kids are thrilled ;D.
Grey and wet in Worthing. Shame! Lovely picture, Tim
hi amanda21
sounds like you have the bug thats going around at the moment.
Just as well that your not going anywhere theres been a 45 vehicle pile up on the A10 at Shepreth and cambourne here has had 3 inches now.
hope your feeling better soon!!

Schools closed here, my boys are out playing cricket in the snow! :-[
Just explain this one, please -
1. West side of our house - snow packing on the SOUTH side of the trunk.
2. East side of the house - snow packing on the NORTH side of the trunk.
Woke up to snow in SE London ;D, and it's still going. Lovely but means the light is rubbish so will be hard to paint today. And I was really hoping for a delivery of bubblewrap. I'm guessing the Interlink guy may not make it.
I'd go out an make a snowman on the allotment if I could get there. :)
Tina.
hi
boss wants me in the office but though that i would take some snaps first..

Nice Cambourne, but we got more ;D! Will post a pic when it stops snowing.
Just a few wispy flakes here in Manchester. :(
After all the hype I was expecting trouble opening the front door this morning, but it seems the North West is going to escape most of it. Still, I've got the day off tomorrow so I can get something constructive done on the lottie. All my plants in the greenhouse froze and died. :(
Steve.
If not they will have to phone them and ask the undertaker to keep him on a low light by ace
love it ;D ;D
don't know where in manchester you are druid but it's coming down quite quickly here in wigan now, luckily we got to the plot yesterday..maybe it's started there now, I'm not sure if I like it or not, nice to look at and play in but gets in the way of gardening ;D
steve i sympathise i have 3 cameilia plants out side where the buds where about to open before the show i suspect that they will be dead come the thaw
We got plenty here in Oxford. Not quite as much as Tim by the looks of it, but close. Probably 3 inches at least perhaps a bit more. Still coming down gently. Took some photos on the walk to work, but can't get at them till I get home. ::)
PLenty in this part of Essex

We had a couple of inches of snow in the early hours of the morning, here on the edge of the Salisbury Plain. However, by 9am it rained briefly and there is now just a light scattering on the grass. It has all gone off the trees though so I wasn't able to get any good photos. :'(

City centre Manchester's got grey skies and a cold breeze but no snow as yet, discounting the few bits of dandruff that's blowing about.
There's no business like snow business LOL

Take it easy peeps and stay warm and safe ;)
Its been snowing since about 6am. in Shropshire and still is but it has only amounted to about half an inch.

Snap. Got up at 5.20 tp take somew more painkillers, due to go to work for a 12 hour shift, no way! Phoned the hospital to tell them the good news, back to bed.......
Snowed about an inch so far in Derby, getting heavier. The cats and I are staying in bed....
We've had about 3" in west berks. But its already 1°C outside...so better get out and make the most of it. Quite fancy a spin round the lanes and up the Downs in my Mini ;D

Wind does strange things when it eddies round obstacles like houses! The college is open, worse luck, but a lot of students haven't made it, and so far I've had one lesson that happened as usual, and one cancelled.
We escaped the snow here in the south-west, but it rained heavily last night - 10mm of it. Today is mild at 10C and alternating blue skies and heavy showers.
Tricia
beautiful sunny day here on the solent
lot of the stuff in Dartford, Kent
Drove to work and back in the snow... off to the Drs probable chest infection... keep an eye on it Deb that's how I started...

Oh I feel so much better now you've said that! :'( Hope it just stays as a grotty cold..
Perhaps the colder weather will kill off all the bugs......
CAN'T WORK HEAR TODAY
It's a shame, it is pouring with rain here now and the snow will go. My boys are still out in it though, determined to make the most of it! ::)
Don't forget to drive a bit slower. I had to slow down a bit this morning due to the weather. Dazzled a bit with the morning sunshine ;D
What bit we did get this morning has all but gone now :(
Been snowing in N London since 4.30am trudged to work on foot, kids have started a snowman we will finish it later I had 3 inches and it was cold. ;D ;D ;D
AHA - we have a car!!
Tim, what wonderful thick snow! Ours has nearly all gone now. Still at least we had some as we don't get it very often. :)
No more snow here, not even sub zero! :(
Not had a really good dump here for at least 15 years !!!
Excellent snow round out way yesterday (Sarf London). Gave up trying to get to work on non-existent trains and went home to build a snowman with the kids ;D

Sorry to hear that, can the doctor not help? Sorry, I'll get me coat... ::)
Cheers,
Rob ;)
It snowing here again today- yey!
Beat me to it Robkb. No snow here today brass monkeys thou, both snowmen are doing well.
No snow here yet but it is very cold :(
Snowing, cold and slushy here in Derby....... :-\
still not a flake here. i feel so left out. :'(
It's snowing heavily again in Birmingham, with the roads totally clogged up and cars slipping all over the place. It can only get worse as it freezes. Schools were closed for the second day running, but they'd have been OK if they'd opened as the roads were clear till about four.
Ah but think of the poor teachers who would have had to stay behind to lock up. :P
There was one day a couple of years ago when teachers had to camp overnight at the college I teach at because the roads were so dangerous they couldn't get home. But we can do a quick exit if we see it coming!
It started to snow about an hour ago but it has stopped now :(
Both snoman still doing well. ;D ;D ;D
There is no need to rub it in ;D
Our poor snowman is still standing but is surrounded by grass now, and probably won't last until the morning. :'(
Snowmen have had the rain on their backs all morning, small one looks rather anorexic, might be a catwalk snowman one day. Big one has done a bit of weight but still looking healthy apart from one eye, nose and mouth falling off. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Small snowman has gone, think shes run away with the circus. Big one has lost its head and looking rather thin. ;D ;D ;D
Big snowman has gone, was a snowball two hours ago but constant rain has finally finished her off. :( :'( ;D ;D ;D
cornykev, i have noticed the apparent glee the slow demise of the snowmen has caused you and must warn you that the appropriate authorities have been notified (namely the RSPCS Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Snowmen).
There are those amongst us who have not been privileged with snowmen this year and your posting have caused great distress :(
Please think of others in future. ;)
Leg you are wrong it was simply an update for all the unforturunate peeps with no snow ;D I have always loved and cared for snowmen, I have always said that snowmen are not just for Christmas. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Not a trace of snow on the allotments today, just wet and nasty. Yesterday there was quite a bit left, showing very clearly where the cooler spots are round the site.
I've been having a bit of a problem with the Gimp (free photo manipulation program) so I've had no pics of the snow the right size to post, but i seem to be getting there. I should have some shortly.

Noted, but we are watching you ;) ;D ;D
Yes, yes, no sorry I thought I saw a snowflake outside the window sorry about that my mistake ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D .
went to the site yesterday and looks like we had more high winds..
One of the metal sheds ( concreted in ) has been knocked over and the metal ripped apart and the greenhouse beside it looks like a giant has just stood on it :-(
Last bit of digging yesterday, really soggy and heavy no way spuds are going in here yet. :'( ;D ;D ;D
