I've been reading a book called 'THE GREAT VEGETABLE PLOT' by Sarah Raven and she raves about growing and eating pea shoots. Anyone out there grown them? What varieties are best and when is the best time to sow? All info. gratefully received. P.S recommend the book, loads of good advice and ideas.

Nice one! I tried this last year as H F Whittingstall mentions it in one of his books - just nicked the tips out of a few plants before I let them grow on to produce peas ....

Cornykev: I know someone that could be your side-kick! His name (during the day) is Cockney Keef & he runs the MOT garage next door!
But as nightfall approaches, he goes into his small, untidy office, filled with oily rags and dirty invoices. He changes into his spangly electric blue lycra uniform, with matching cape and casts aside his worries of the day: "How the hell am I going to fix that carburettor"
He then transforms into ROBIN THE RELIANT RADISH ;D Trusty companion of Batman Beetroot, on/off boyfriend of Gherkin Girl and Supersprout's 2nd cousin.
TOGETHER ........ THEY WILL RID THIS WORLD OF CRIME, SLUGS, BINDWEED, MARESTAIL AND CARROT FLY!
And inbetween doing that, they will hold jumble sales weekly at the local Scout Hut and donate the proceeds to a donkey sanctuary in South Wales.

The Superheroes' expense account was mentioned in the original paperwork we sent to you regarding initiation into our exclusive band of people trying to save the world ::)
We asked you to supply VAT receipts for all expenses and also asked you to keep your mobiles topped up at all times (unlike Cornykev)
May I remind you about the nature of 'expenses':
NOT egg sandwiches from the Co-Op or petrol - you have flying powers/do not need your car and packed lunches before you leave home are easily done the night before
You MAY claim for lycra outfits if they become damaged on sharp objects such as blackberry bushes/barbed wire. However, we will inspect every rip and tear for evidence of trying to put a false claim in for lycra damage.

does this mean we have some sort of public liability insurance too? You wouldnt believe the amount of times I have had to pay for someones parsnips that were so thin I mistook them for bindweed roots :o. There I am using all the superpower I can muster to wrench these wicked things out of the ground, when along comes a disgruntled lottie owner, screaming obscenities at me.
Well, after consulting the Superhero Handbook of Offensive Weeds, I eventually realise my mistake (theirs really, as they havent been adding enough organic matter to fatten the poor things up :-\) Do you realise how much the shops charge for replacement parsnips. There's not even a Superhero discount :(
Unfortunately, I have no record of the Lycra capes and tights that I have ruined on brambles, and rusty nails sticking out of sheds,trying to get away from the lottie owners. As you know, they are made from lycra of vegetable origin, and were immediately put on the compost heap, along with all VAT reciepts.
