Title: Plot Pics
Post by: Sprout on February 03, 2007, 18:30:35
Here are some photos taken on my plot this afternoon: note the new shed in the background!

Not much is growing a the moment save for some garlic, leeks and a couple of remaining January King cabages. Some Greyhound spring cabbages and Arctic King lettuces are under the cloches. On the right are is my comfrey bed whilst just in front of the black compost bin are a couple of blackcurrant bushes.

In the second picture you can see some sage bushes I planted as companion planting with my brassicas.

Here is my pride and joy - my shed. It was erected at the end of September and I love it! Imagine my shock and horror, therefore, when 2 weeks ago during the stormy weather, I arrived to find that it had blown over onto it's side. The roof had come away a bit but fortunately there was no major damage. A neighbour and I managed to right it, and a few nails soon had the roof secured. I've now got a growmore colured wall where the fertiliser came out of the bag and got wet in the rain through the gaping roof. But hey-ho, could've been worse.

Hope you enjoy the pics.
Regards
Sprout.

Yes, siree, Bob!
Potatoes, onions and shallots arrived yesterday.
Just been working out a plan for when to start the seeds off. Shan't start anything though until the end of the month. Until then, more digging and weeding.

I keep meaning to take some piccies of my plot but keep forgetting to take my camera to the plot. Its good to see other piccies all the same.

You can always get some great ideas you would never have thought of. Ideas you have wondered how to do - you may see how its done when someone else has put it into practice.

Bet it's hard to sit on those onions and patooties, they must be shouting 'plant me, plant me'! And you've got somewhere to plant them! Wasn't that a field when you took it on, Sprout? It's looking lovely now - as does the shed, you'd never know it's been turning somersaults ::) ;)

Thanks for your nice comments, everyone.
Yes, Supersprout, it was more or less a field when I took in on in January 05 and you can still see all the couch grass which is still surrounding the shed. As you can also see from the black plastic, I'm gradually working my way back. In another 2 or 3 years, I reckon I might just make it. I'm going to get a bench to plonk in front of the shed as it's a real little sun trap there and in front of that, a plum tree and some raspberries which I've got on order.

is there a floor in your shed??? if so weigh it down with bags of compost - will stop it blowing over!  I also put concrete blocks on my roof plus screwed the shed to pallets and then put all the chook food in it... no way it will blow over again!

Smart shed, I wish I could get my plot looking that tidy.  When I first got my shed ( and it was tidy) it used to move on very windy days.  Now it is full of clutter, including 2 lawnmowers it is less likely to take off.

Good luck and happy gardening
