Title: Blight
Post by: Roger Skilton on February 03, 2007, 08:49:31
Hi

I am new to growing veg so I have worked out a plan to plant various veg in a plot 12mtr x 10mtr putting onions by the carrots and beans to the rear so the sun isn't blocking the other crops, but I have just been told that I should plant potatoes away from the other veg because of blight. Does anyone have any views on this.

Regards

Roger

I'd have no worries planting these crops together.

You should avoid putting them next to other plants that are susceptable to blight such as tomatoes.

You might want to consider fleecing the carrots to keep out the dreaded carrot root fly.

Plan sounds a good 'un Roger, you've obviously factored in height and shading too - it took me 30 years to get that far (http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e220/supersprout/smilies/respect.gif)

Greatpalm is right - just make sure spuds and toms aren't too close.

As above keep toms and spuds apart because the toms are susceptible to potato blight.
