Title: Free Lettuce!!
Post by: Biscombe on February 02, 2007, 13:08:24
Just been weeding my brasica bed and to my surprise found loads of lettuce seedlings (mainly red salad bowl but others too) I´m chuffed cos I was going to sow some this weekend! saved me a job! On the other hand my nice tidy uniform bed will be messed up! Would you move the lettuce seedlings into a bed of their own or just thin and leave them among the brassicas?

I`ll post some pics later.............

Can you do both? I'd imagine that transplanted lettuce would get a shock and come a little later, so you'd get succession too ::)

I've had RSB come up in my beds before, but not quite this early in the year!

Saddad, did you move it, or let it stay?

Both like SS suggested, they transplant easily enough at that size and make good underplanting as they are fairly flat and spreading...
