Title: Early Peas And Carrots
Post by: silly billy on January 30, 2007, 22:21:57
Been looking through my seeds and some say I can sow them outdoors in March. Will these need protecting with cloches or fleece? Or cn they just go out.We live in Surrey.

Either.....but they will need protection. One frost and your back to the beginning.
If you cloch, make sure to block the ends.

More chance in Surrey than we have here in the Midlands,

Try to choose "early" varieties though (quicker maturing) like Early Onward peas, or Early Nantes carrots.

It's not only the cold they'd need protecting from, everything with 2legs/4legs/wings will be after them. I've started a load in the greenhouse already but the snow's probably got them. Too impatient!
