Just had a good afternoon preparing my sweetpea trench, if the weather stays good for the rest of the week as they promise maybe I can get the plants in. I have to have good ones this year as my wife is doing the flowers for our sons wedding.
Looking in the greenhouse I see the geranium cuttings are almost ready for potting up, we used to do just a few round the edge of the pot now we get up 15 in a 5 inch pot. It looks as if they have nearly all rooted, this one is the ivy-leaved "Crocodile". Looking carefully you will see the fisrt signs of greenfly. >:( >:(

I am sorry that this is in the wrong section I do know we do not eat sweetpeas or geraniums. :-[ :-[ :-[
Hi Laurie,
Your Geraniums look great. When do you take the cuttings and do you keep them in an unheated greenhouse or is is heated?
I took my Geraniums out of the ground in Autumn and put them in pots. I didn't take any cuttings, but have kept them in an unheated greenhouse over winter wrapped in fleece (I don't know if this was right or wrong). I'm very new to gardening.

Hi, Laurie, when do you actually plant your sweet peas in the ground then, do you cover them with anything ? :)
I take the geranium cuttings in August, they are in a greenhouse that has a heater just to keep out the frost.I keep them very much on the dry side as they will withstand cold if dry but not when wet.
I plant out my sweetpeas early March, they are sown 8th October I have fleece laying by in case the weather turns very cold but it is only the roots that get damaged the foliage is hardy provided they have not been kept too warm.
