My friend sent me a voucher for Christmas for the following on-line shop.
http://www.re-foundobjects.com/shop/cart.php?target=product&product_id=90&category_id=4
You see that MAHOOOSIVE fork on the link - the one with 9 prongs? Well I ordered it and it arrived on Friday ;D
It's a potato fork! I'd never heard of them before. They've got little metal beads on the ends of the prongs so you don't slice your tatties in half when you dig 'em up ;D
I need someone to recommend an extra specially early potato that grows within 10 minutes of planting it so I can test it ;D
There are some really lovely things on the site as well (gardening stuff as well as other stuff) all recycled and the guys that run the shop are LOVELY!
Oh how my life has changed ::) 10 yrs ago I would be getting enthusiastic about designer club-wear and the latest music. Now I'm in bed for 9pm and getting all unnecessary about a potato fork!
Oh gadget heaven! What a beauty! Oh for the super-early spud! Can truly relate to the excoitment Trixie :D
May all your (new) dreams come true as happily too ;D ;D ;D
Hi Trixiebelle - never heard of a potato fork before sounds interesting though :o
wished I knew of fast potatoes - just cannot wait until I have anything to harvest ( only had my lottie 4 weeks!!)
Like you 10 years ago the last thing I ever thought was working on the freezing cold my hands covered in mud and muck
But really enjoying it ;D ;D and get excited about horse poo! :o :o :o
Great site, that's gone on my bookmarks..... ;D
Nice potato fork too!
Thank you Sprouty :)
BLUEBIRD! Only 4 weeks??? So that means you're awake at about 6am in the morning planning your allotment and you've got a little book with 'Things To Do At the Allotment' written on the front??!! ;D
I don't get excited about horse poo, but chicken s***t .... NOW YOU'RE TALKIN'!
I also bought a few other 'items' from that site that are totally unnecessary and frivolous in the extreme ::) Copper plant labels, the iron string dispenser and a recycled rubber bucket. One too many egg nogs of an evening and I'm a sucker for garden porn ;D
I have one trixie - the old boy picked one up at a garage sale for a fiver for me. It is great - took me a while to get used to wielding it about, but no more spike spuds for me! ;D
Wow, that is a very cool fork! And a cool website... I got excited about a £1 handturned hardwood dibber today. :) So sad... especially considering I didn't even know what a dibber was until a few months ago.
Tina.

Cannot get to sleep thinking about it and also how can I get away early from work !! Use my car boot as office - but now it is full of gardening bits and bobs :) :)
Ooooh, they do SEEEEEDS!
Anyone tried the Drunken Woman Lettuce?
;D

Ahhhh... see, I still go clubbing, it's just that while I'm there I talk to anyone who'll listen about the joy of growing leeks. ;D
Laney! I can't be bothered to clean my fingernails for a night out ;D And besides, the music in clubs these days is so AWFULLY LOUD and all the young people take those 'E Number' things that make them jig about uneccessarily and pay NO ATTENTION to my debates about chitting versus non-chitting. It's really quite disheartening ;)
Besides ... I've got my own gin-still in the shed and a generator to fire up my mixing desk on a Saturday night. All I'm missing is a strobe light!
;D ;D
What U grinnin' at angle-shades??!!?? ;)
:)
we sometimes have a coffee with a slug or more of southern comfort , it helps you weed faster ::)
I put purple nail polish over my nails to hide the dirt, and I think music should be banned in pubs and clubs (unless it's ABBA ;D) and the reading material should be garden porn ;)
Wot? Live slugs?
How organic!
;D
;D ;D
Trixiebell - there was a lava lamp going on Freecycle recently. Somehow that seems a better fit, a more laid back atmosphere for drunken chitting chat. I'll keep an eye out for you. ;)
Tina.
Why thank you Timelady ;D I think you're right actually! Maybe a mix off mellow jazz and contemporary Country and Western.
And my new club will be called ... THE ALLOTMENT LOUNGE ;D All welcome ... bring a bottle/flask of tea.
I was sorting through my handbag today and thinking what it may have retrospectively contained. Perhaps an emergency supply of rubber contraceptive devices, a Chanel lipstick and a pocket-sized can of hairspray.
And today? An emergency dibber (you may never know when you might need one) a ball of green string (ditto) and a Swiss Army Knife.
I've oiled me fork this afternoon. SHEER HEAVEN! ;D
Erm .. back to fast potatoes!
I bought some called Swift last year & they grow in 11 weeks [or so it says on the packet] ours took a bit longet cos of the cold spring but I thought they were great. Quite a good crop from 5 big pots. [Read somewhere else on the site that someone didn't rate the flavour but I really liked them].
You know.... I love the title of this thread - it pretty much sums up my feelings about when I got my plot!
Louise
With you on that one, LS, and also when the weather allows a productive weekend, and particularly today when I got to the plot to find the brassicas had put on a bit of growth...
...easily pleased? Me? You betcha! ;D
