Lovely!
And if it's got a low-growing branch, you could try making a friend for it, for next year.
Clematis are propagated very easily by layering.
Leave the branch attached to your plant.
Find a point that's far enough from the mother plant's main stem for you to gently bend it to soil level.
Make an angled cut at that point, only cutting a little way into the branch, really not much further than through its skin.
Bend the branch so that the cut opens, and fix it into a pot of compost using an old hairpin. Pop the pot down out of the way, still attached to its mummy plant.
Just keep the compost moist... and by autumn, or next spring, you'll find it's grown its own happy little root system.
Anyway, whether you decide to grow-your-own or not, you've got a gorgeous clem!
:)
Make sure you have enough room for it. Very vigorous grower, I found a complete shed we did not know we had under mine when I moved here.
I never knew that,I'll try that then this year, never knew you could do that Triffid.
Great tip!! :)
