Title: OE Email blocker?
Post by: Palustris on January 23, 2007, 16:31:11
So I added a site to the Email blocker, how come I still get Emails from Virgin Wines. And is there any authority I can complain to that despite frequent Emails and requests to the said company they STILL send me them?

I can only say, don't ever reply to the emails. If you do, they know they've got a genuine address.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird which can be trained to junk the spam mails. I often get over a hundred spam mails in one address that is widely advertised. Thunderbird usually junks over 90% of them.

These Emails are not really Spam in the usual sense. We did have dealings with them, but stopped six months ago.  We requested then that they take us off their mailing list. We are still waiting!
In the normal run of things we rarely get Spam (odd Email address helps no end!) and the small amount we do see is either junked by the Spam blocker or deleted unopened by us.
I have now created a Message Rule in O.E which automatically deletes any message containing the name of the company.

You can report them . See the Privacy and Communications regulations 2003.

I have just reported Churchill for unsolicitated spam. They should get fined.
