Now our 'estate' is nowhere near as big as Erics and Hughs, however, we love it and have a little woodland area which is my favourite place this time of year. There are bluebells just opening, aquiligias all in bud, grasses, 3 apple trees in blossom, a sweet cherry and ornamental cherry in blossom, pulmanaria, bugle, ferns, foxgloves, hostas and lots of others. Hope you like it.

p.s. must say that the pics do not do it justice. Seems awfully green and not terribly colourful, but the trees are all pink and packed with blossom, and the bluebells are a gorgeous haze.
Lovely EJ :) What a lovely calm area for your garden. Everything looks so fresh :) :)
Lovely - just my cup of tea! But, like these little ones, isn't it hard to show the effect? = Tim

Nice little woodland garden you have there EJ. I am currently trying to develop a similar area at the top of my garden. Formerly just a grassy area under a group of tall pine trees i have already added an Island bed on one side and started to plant it with some shade tollerant perennials. I am now working on extending an existing border to incoporate the remaining trees before planting up at a later date. The result has been/will be to surround the trees with beds and make them look part of the garden rather than just a forgotten area.
When i get some photos taken i will post them to show you. For now here are a couple of 'before' shots

From the other direction - new beds either side
This is as i say a 'before' veiw. You will have to use your imagination until i can get up to date pictures uploaded
Sorry Richard - have only got red crosses :(
photos not thru Rcuahrd.
EJ all looks and sounds lovely, seems like my kind of place - not too organised and a nice bench to enjoy it from - that's meant to be a compliment.
Tim, again you always produce super pics you must be on the go constantly.
It'd be nice if I could get them in focus one day! = Tim
Gorgeous Tim, really is my kinda gardening, and it is suprisingly organised Wicker ;). The acquilegias are just begining to open, the bluebells look great, the ferns are unfurling and their looks like lots of baby cherries on my little cherry tree.
Sorry for the red crosses folks, it worked Ok when i first did it. Now apparently the images have 'expired' (dont ask me why ???)
Now changed them to weblinks, but can only veiw one picture the rest are 'forbidden' even though they are my photos! :o. I'll leave them like this for a while in case this changes.
In the meantime to veiw the pictures you'll have to join webshots (link in seperate 'Gallery' thread). Dont worry its free and easy to do, but you get to veiw other members pictures as well as your own. :)
Richard, why didn't you post the pics in the MSN site Aquilegia set up - that is so easy and I know you did post a couple there? Or of course photobucket which I believe a lot of people are using.
Yep I should have done EJ, just wanted to try out Webshots instead :)

Did someone mention aquilegias?
Looks gorgeous EJ and Tim. I just love woodland.
My garden is too small to have anything like that, but the whole of it is losely based on a woodland clearing theme, so I have loads of woodland plants. gorgeous.
