Just checked metcheck for this week so I could plan my work and allotment visits, and the forecast is great for this part of the world. What happened to the snow we were forecasted last week????
Emma, just watched the weather forecast on News24 and you seem to be getting snow tomorrow and Tuesday around the Home Counties. We are to get it as well most of the week as has most of England. I bet it will only be a slight covering, but we have been warned, snow is on the way for most of the country and it will be bitterly cold, so seek out your long johns!!!
;D ;D ;D
temp here has droped to 2.8°C
dew point being 1.3°C
Humidity 91%
Pressure 1009 mBar
Wind Speed 4.7 knots
Direction S
Rain today 0.0 mm

snow here has shifted to tuesday with wednesday and saturday being nice days but neither above 6°C
Clear sky here too. Havent seen the weather today though.
Looks like they are over hype-ing the weather again. They say its cold but really its only what we should be getting at this time of year, and not particularly unusualor extreme at all.
I think the weather people tend to generalise about the weather these days, probably to avoid flak when it doesnt turn out how they predict it will. Thing is with rain and wind you can get away with it to a cetain extent, but with things like frost and maybe snow, you cant. These types of weather can be very localised and depend on local conditions to happen or not. For instance we were forecast frost last night, but although it was a colder night, there was no sign of frost this morning, and it didnt feel that cold.
I saw on BBC Breakfast that one of the national newspapers has the front page headline "-9c", suggesting that the whole country will expereince such temperatures this week. This is far too general. OK some might get -9c, some parts of the north might be colder, but others not so cold (i hope). Such headlines are in my veiw sensationalising the weather just to sell copy and should be taken with a big pinch of salt.
My advice would be to forget the national weather picture and concentrate on whats happening local to you. Thats what matters.
Well, what do you know, it poured all morning. I am soaked through again. bbbrrr. Chilly also. Only 3' when I took the children to school. Working again tomorrow, weather permitting!
Emma, we got the snow here in East Sussex! :o;D Not going to settle tho.......rained this morning!
Snow envy here. :'(
Hi
Temperature: 4 deg C here there is some very low lying cloud and you can just see some patches of bright blue behind them.
I am confident we will see snow soon.
Louise
Rained all morning, freezing winds all afternoon wooly hat was donned today, don't worry Carol the old L J's will be out tomorrow. :( ;D ;D ;D
We've got snow here in the Pennines, but the sun is shining and it's going gradually. Sorry I can't send it further south ;)
We set off to the allotment yesterday and had to turn back because there was such a blizzard we thought we might not get home again.
EJ just to prove it! ;D

Snowed for 10 minutes first thing bu didn't settle, been bright and crisp all day, 5°c
temp here just dropped to 2degrees
i guess snow by 6pm?
Bit nippy here but lovely for working in. Changed out of the silk drawers this morning and dug out the long johns, trouble is they have shrunk a bit since I last used them. ;D
4°c now
Just been out to put the car in the garage........boy has that turned cold,
Sorry but you can keep the snow. I dont want any here thanks! Got enough trouble with the wind at the moment, very strong, and bitterly cold. it has also managed to blow over and break a clay pot with a pieris growing in it, something all the storms in the past few weeks failed to achieve!
Forecast tonight is for a hard frost, but unless the cloud clears rapidly, that wont be happening. it will be cold, but not frosty.
BBBBRRRRR. okay, it is chilly now. Am going to keep fit club in a moment and have my big wooly jumper on for the journey to the village hall. bbbrrrr. Our local forecast is still for a clear, bright sunny day tomorrow. The children however brought home a note from school telling us to keep an ear out on BBC Essex if snow falls to hear if the school is shut. bbbrrr
Very cold here in West Berks, but it wont snow - it never does...will probably rain - again. I checked our well today, its now got 2.5m of water in it - 2 weeks ago it was bone dry...
its cold here Temperature -2.1°C but no snow!
Cambourne - it's probably 'too cold to snow' ;D ;D
2' when I came out of keep fit. Clear clear sky so I reakon a heavy frost come morning.
I'd just like to know how you can have a frost when its blowing a gale? Just seen the beeb's weather for tonight. They forecast clear skies and frost. Last tme i looked out it was cloudy and very windy (has been all evening).
You can have frost and a howling gale quite easily if the actual air temperature is below freezing.
Snowed for about two minutes this morning 6.30 most of you were probably still in bed, a bright sunny afternoon but brass monkeys with them winds. :( :( :( ;D
OKAY its cold now! Low of -1.9c last night (but the greenhouse was a nice snug +4c ;D). High of +5c today, though its about +1c out now. Looks like tonight could be colder than las night as we have had clear skies all day. Which in itself was nice - yesterday was horrible with all the cloud and wind on top of the cold. Today nice and bright and sunny, albeit freezing cold, had to wear a fleece under my usualy suficiently warm overcoat today.
Coldest day of the winter so far and the office heating has packed up! Still, might get to go home early ;)
The car said -4 this morning and was covered in a layer of snow.
had to use a kettle to open the door to get in.
much better than wind and rain - I can hear the garlic splitting

Well thats just typical isnt it. Similar here. Coldest day of the year and no hot soup for lunch - get it most days but not today!
Bonfire day, I have been saving it all for a day like today. Not quite freezing but the wind chill make you think it is. Nice and sunny though.
0' when I headed to work this morning. Quite warm in the sun, but then I did have a vest, t-shirt, fleece and wooly jumper on, along with longjohns, tracky pants and ski socks. ;D Cold tonight - my love with have freezing fingers when he gets home. Planting 200 beech trees tomoz :-\. I'm sure this cold isn't ideal tree planting weather, but what this client wants, this one gets.
Can't beat the L J's EJ. ;D ;D ;D
Woke up to snow again today and it's still snowing!! not quite the 6 inces they threatened - but it could still come!

Too Right! Decided yesterday i just had to get outside, been stuck inside one way or another for too long. Fancied tackling a pine tree stump in the garden that had started to annoy me, so donned LJs, Fleece, thick overcoat, hat and gloves (as well as usual gardening gear) and headed out. Didnt notice the cold at all. Didnt get the job done though - bit too tough to do all in one go, and i think the blade on my bow saw is worn out. Never mind. ;-)
