They have the classic radish hotness if used raw... I grate them into winter salads of Endive, Chicory, rocket from the greenhouse and anything else I can get hold of! But they loose the heat on cooking and taste like Turnip...
;D

I got those from realseeds too Biscombe, after seeing EJ's account and pics of hers on the forum - won't be sowing until late summer for overwintering, but will be asking for recipe tips then! Those carrots are superb too saddad *sigh* when did you sow them? Outdoors or in the g'house under fleece please? ;D

The Winter Radish are Black Spanish Round (BSLong used to be available as well) there are some pretty pink skinned varieties like Pasque (HDRA) and even a pink fleshed one around Biscombe...
SS they were outdoors sown at the very end of Sept.. carrots Swede and radish! All straight into the soil but the carrots were fleeced...
;D

Ooooo, lovely Saddad.  I love my winter black radish - can't remeber variety, but mind are longer, more like the white mooli.  They are great cooked as they don't disintegrate, even after long cooking.  Also they stay in the ground all winter long, only coming up when you need them.  A nice alternative to parsnips.  For me they have been great as my swedes totally failed and my late sowing or turnips were frazzled off in the late summer sun.  These have certainly filled a welcome gap.  I probably have a dozen carrots left which will come home next week.
