Just opened a little pot of sunshine.
Busy chasing the grey wet stuff away with this on hot buttered toast :P

Ooo lovely, and what a colour! What spices are in it trif?
Would you believe star anise, cinnamon and fresh chilli! It's a recipe that I first tried this year; tastes wonderful. The spices aren't overpowering (one star, half a cinnamon stick and one red chilli to a kilo of plums); almost like a fragrance rather than a taste, if you know what I mean.
And the fruit -- a fantastic sweet yellow plum that grows on an abandoned plot on our site. No one knows its name, alas. Next summer I'll take pictures to post here and see if anyone can ID it :)
I wish our abandoned plots had plums on instead of dock leaves and couch grass !! :o :o ;D ;D

Oh we have plenty of those too, plus thistles a-blowing in summer and self-seeding brambles that grow at a sprint! ::)
