Title: First snowdrops
Post by: Robert_Brenchley on January 13, 2007, 20:41:55
These are Galanthus caucasicus, my favourite species. They're a lot bigger than the ordinary ones, flower early, and aren't hard to come by.

I can't remember who sent me Helleborus argutifolius seed last year, but I noticed today that it's germinating merrily.

I adore Snowdrops and my mum and I always used to look for the first one!  She would ring me the moment she spotted one - she was always first as her garden in London is very sheltered.  She died a couple of years ago and I still watch avidly for them!  We have one single one in bloom at school - but none in my garden yet ( I have hundreds).
