Looking forward to my first growing year on my patch and in need of some advice please.
I have obtained my early potatoes for sowing end feb-march and have 3 different varities.
My question is
How wide and deep should i plant these
. and can i say do one row of one make, 2nd row of other make, 3rd of other, then start row 4 with first, row 5 with second and row 6 with 3rd make again, or should one varitey be in two rows, then 2nd, int two rows ect.

Hi, first earlies are genrally planted about 6" deep, 12" apart in rows 18" to 24" apart. Of course you can plant them how you describe makes no difference at all but make a record of which sort is where ;).
Oh and depending where you are in the country and prevailing weather conditions the end of February / early March is very early to plant potatoes.
My measurements are similar to previous posting. I plant all earlies together, 2nd earlies together, then maincrop variety together. This way - an area of the plot becomes vacant around the same time allowing you to plant another crop or do autumn digging and clearing.

Thanks for reply, ill double check lable, as i saw it said earlys end feb to begining march,
im from cambridgeshire, btw and we have lot mild wether, not to extremes of goys and girls up north or deep south west
I plant them in maturity order and always start with Epicure which is supposed to best at bouncing back from a late frost.
Steve you will find you will have to wait until after the frosts and I am in N. London and we had to wait until early March last year. The ground has to be workable. ;D ;D ;D
