I have just bought 30 bags of mushroom compost to try to bring the PH, on my plot, up to neutral.
Having already been warned not to put lime on at the same time as manure I now hear that the compost comprises of ---lime and manure. ??? :o ???
What is going on please?
By the way I am thinking of putting some in the greenhouse as I am building a raised bed in there and need a lot of soil to fill it. Will it be OK if I mix it with sand and a bit of topsoil from the plot?
Totally Confused---Rosemary ???
I expect the mushroom mixture is spent anyway, so much of the nourishment has gone. I would only use it as a soil improver, but it should be good in a raised bed mixed with topsoil. Add some rooster or compost to put back the nourishment.
Yes Ace- but it was not spent when it was made to begin with.

Me too... but I thought the lime in the Mcompost was to speed up the liberation of the nutrients for the crop... which we don't need in an outdoor situation as the rain will wash them away even faster...
???
saddad - That sounds feasible. So we don't need to panic if we need to lime and manure within 5 weeks of each other.
