Title: greenhouse damaged
Post by: okra on January 11, 2007, 20:06:20
The wind  today have been relentless and I have lost at least two panes from the G/house in Dartford, Kent.  I hoping there is not too much damage at the allotment. Has there been any severe damage in your area?

Sorry to hear it okra, at least two panes is fixable :'(
I'll go plotting on Saturday to assess damage. Can't wait to see if the mulch is holding or if there's a pile of straw at one end of the allotment :-X

The greenhouse door in my home garden will not fully open. I think the whole thing has twisted slightly in all these gales. Will have to persuade some willing volunteers to help me budge it back round - literally half an inch.... :(

my spare packet of sweet pea seeds was swimming in a lake on the inside of the office window sill this morning !  Guess I'll have to plant them all now !   8)

The bad weather is just too boring now.  It is relentless.

You go to bed, it's raining, you get up, it's still raining.

having the front still off the polycab g/h seems to have stopped the repaired back and sides from blowing out again which is a bonus.  The glass g/h appears to be holding firm, touch wood.  What worries me is if something flies over the hedge to land directly on it's roof.

Still not worthwhile to phone a roof repairman to quote for the missing tiles and leaking chimney and guttering.  No-one in their right mind would get up a ladder in this.

on the up side ...................... erm, is there one ?

;D

well, the sweet peas have been pre-soaked so that's saved you a job 8) Can't have too many sweet peas ;D

And if you want a spare to replace the spare, give me a shout..

My green metal shed in those pics I put up recently was blown over the fence and the next allotment.... stopping just before the large greenhouse (!!!!!) when I first put it up. Have turned it through 90 degrees so that the doorway is more sheltered from the wind coming up the site. Still where it should have been at teatime!
;D

Last night the wind got my wooden Haxnicks mini-greenhouse. It's now missing the entire back and lid, and spent the night horizontal. Am drying it out in preparation for gluing it back together for about the fourth time (the design's great as long as it never gets wet (!!!)... then the joints pop open)

*sigh*

Visited the allotment today and had to put the roof back onto the porch attached to the shed.
