I grew my own CCollossal from seed... Planted them out , left alone for a year and only a tasting the year after.... three years fron the year you sowed the seeds.
Worth the wait.

I,ll have to swot up on them Ithink I might have to put them in the greenhouse for a bit
they are here!! and they are plants or is it crowns. camparing them to the picture
in the veg and herb expert they could be 1 year old ones. I have been following
the advise given to tabbycat (I havn,t prepared a bed either in fact leeks are in my prefered place) and noted to keep them in a dark place but these have started sprouting and v,h expert says early april so should i pot them and put them outdoors in a sheltered place? so they are sort of semi dorment

I'd put each crown in a large pot of compost and leave them in a cool place. Get them in after the leeks are out and the bed prepared but don't cut any this year so they get their roots down.
