Hi tig, i saw a couple of these too, was it with Simon Mayo following several groups of allotmenteers over a few months? I think it was called The Big Dig, or Digging It. I'm sure if you google you'll find it, it was on terrestrial telly i think. I'd love it to be repeated, so update us if you find out any juicy info! x

Hi again, this had me so intrigued i googled it myself lol! I've finally found it, it was called the Big Dig presented by Simon Mayo, so i wasn't going totally mad! Here's a link to the only page of info I've managed to find about it! Here's hoping they repeat it, again! x

They dropped it because it was so awful nobody watched it after the first two programmes.

Yeah, it says it was dropped after the first couple of episodes, but they had so many complaints that they re-ran it, and it was the re-runs we caught a few of. I thought it was quite good actually, a bit more down to earth (if you pardon the pun  ;D ) than GYO that's on at the mo! x

yep the two episodes i seen were great, really down to earth with "real" people doing their gardening thing.

There were ten of them: I've got it all on DVD. Keep meaning to hack it to bits... er... edit it :) so a) the silly recaps and mini-trailers vanish  b) Mayo's introductions and grimaces vanish

Reckon I'll have about half left by then ;D

Moonbells, not sure about the copyright thing but I would love to buy a copy off you or maybe swap it for something if that would avoid prosecution!

we used to see a programme about allotments on uk tv style, was it the same one, went on for a long time, oldish chap, in manchester allotments, used to love it, gave great tips ,
then there's the one with greg someone, recently been on masterchef, him and his mate went around allotments, showing how to grow things,
another one had a woman and a chap, showed how to grow veggies onaallotments, chap who went to the barbers for old hair and the pub for slops for his slug traps, anyone now if any of them are coming back on,?

If you're doing this, I'd love to subscribe for a copy too.  Happy to pay directly, or donate to A4A or to a charity.  :)

Hi Blue Bird. Yes I've watched Heavens Garden and was very impressed with it. Certainly better than Carol's efforet last Friday, I hope this week improves.

I have just bought this months 'Grow your own' and there is an advert for a DVD about somebody growing vegetables for a whole year. The DVD comes out every month and it shows you what they do each month(mistakes an all) I have sent of for January's to see what it is like.
Each DVD is supposed to run for 3 hours. It is quite expensive £10 per month, but if the first ones are no good I will not buy any more.
What appeals to me is the fact that they are based about 3 miles from my house and usually things like this are from down south so sowing times are all wrong for our area.

Heavens above! I'm in demand!

I don't want to do anything that's against copyright law, but not sure how it works for broadcast programmes. Will have to phone BBC and check. Back later!

No can do legally. I can pack up my set of disks and send them on a round-robin so you can all watch them (risking the post losing them!) but duplicating what I've got isn't allowed. Terribly sorry, but I really don't want to do anything that might get me or anyone else into hot water.

Perhaps send it to one person, then they can send it on to the next?

They had no objection to that, trouble is I'm scared it'll get lost in the mail.

Let me thunk about it.
