Yup, get in early - they disappear fast!

I must say, I've been buying Woolies plants and shrubs (both fruit and flowers) for years and have never had a problem with any of 'em. You really can't go wrong at those prices. Good luck!

;D

Oh went to woolies and treated me to a Chinese Gooseberry Kiwi Fruit Bush a bargain at £2.99. It says plant as soon as possible but don't plant in frozen or very wet conditions can be stored for a few days. Well its been pissing down for days any advise. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) :-\ :-\ :-\

went there today and it was lovely. all this gardening stuff out. i bought a water mister for a £1. it was one of those pressure ones.....so i'm well chuffed with that bargain because my last one broke. and i also bought some leaf shine for £1.73 i think. everywhere they only sold the huge cans that cost about £4. did look at all the bulbs and the perennials and the bare roots and was really tempted. but i'll have to wait till the next pay day. i wanna get a magnolia, and acer palmatum...one of those fine leaf ones......a lilac and some other things i saw aswell.

i have to say it's really lifted my spirits to see all this gardening stuff come back. even in poundland and wilkinsons they've got all their seeds and composts and pots out. i've been like a kid in a candy store all day today. i love it! i've missed it so much over the winter.

Cornykev, just keep it in a sheltered spot, in its wrapper for protection, and don't let it dry out. I've had my Kiwi Fruit 'Woolius Bargainus' for two years now and it's going great guns!

;D

Grab the kiwi fruit vines,(it is not a bush Kev) I could not get them at that price wholesale.  Fragrant flowers, plus now the autumns are getting later, a good chance of fruit. In an earlier thread I explained if you pick the fruit when it is hard it will store for months and when you want to ripen it put them with some bananas. I had at least 4 kilos from my 3 year old vine this year.

Corny, Ace - you're both right! It DOES say bush on the packet, and it ISN'T, it's a vine. Handshakes all round!    ;D

Cambourne7, it might be worth your while travelling a bit further afield if at all possible, as some branches don't get much sale stock in while others get the jackpot. For instance, my local branch doesn't stock gardening stuff at all, though the next nearest branch does. The branch where I got all my goodies is a large one on two floors in a shopping mall.

... which reminds me - I went back to Woolies today and found packs of two Asparagus crowns (Connovers Colossal) reduced to half price of £2.49. Beat that!

...well, actually, I have.

Wilkos (conveniently situated right next door to Woolies) are doing packs of THREE crowns for TWO quid.

Joyful jig? You bet!

;D ;D ;D
