My mate asked me if I got sheet of standars newspaper and folded it 100 times
I know you can`t but IF you could
How thick do you reckon it would be??
Thick as a brick?
Thick as a lamp post is long???
I said the lamp post.....
Lets have your guesses then...........assuming paper is .1mm thick
126760707945903991991631452569.6mm
quite big ...
the solution is 0.1mm x 2^100
Incidentally, you can't fold a sheet of newspaper in half eight times ...
I thought you could only fold a sheet of paper 8 times or something daft like that ??
Note: I said imagine you could :-[
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
So the folded paper count was
1 503 392 362 673 400 917 713 408 229 376
one quintillion five hundred and three thousand three hundred and ninety two quadrillion three hundred & sixty two thousand six hundred & seventy three trillion four hundred thousand nine hundred & seventeen billion seven hundred and thirteen thousand four hundred & eight million two hundred and twenty nine thousand three hundred and seventy six folds.
using .1mm thickness
9 343 364 426 770 292 071 419.14747 miles (9343 trillion)
Light travels 186000 miles in a second
so it travels 1593 million light years for a hundred folds of thin paper.....
Nothing better to do!!! I am probably wrong somewhere in the calculations but is was a BIG long division converting to miles :)
I was wrong then unless it was a really really tall lamp post

More of an observation than an answer to your original question. Sorry if I worded it incorrectly!!!
http://www.kottke.org/04/06/paper-folding
and I think i read somewhere in Oz someone got 30 folds???
bit less than 100 though!!! :D
I didn't fold it, I tried cutting a big peice into 10 parts and sticking 'em together...result?...well, it was as thick as 10 sheets of paper!
