Am flying off early tomorrow morning for the weekend and wondered if anyone could tell me whether the current cabin luggage restrictions of 1 item of hand luggage per person includes ladies handbags?
I have trawled through the travel advice on various sites and it is not clear in any of them. OH thinks that any handbag taken along would have to be able to fit inside the 1 item of hand luggage - anyone travelled recently and come across this problem? ??? autumn leaf
Are you traveling outside Europe??
My son just come back from the USA and brought alsorts back via hand luggage
Different airlines have different restrictions. Some more strict than others.
Hi there autumnleaf -- hope you'll check this thread again before packing the last bits and pieces.
The rules aren't from the airlines, they're universal for all UK airports.
Here's the info you need, from the British Airports Authority.
"One piece of hand baggage, no more than:
56 centimetres tall (approximately 22 inches)
45 centimetres wide (approximately 17.7 inches)
25 centimetres deep (approximately 10 inches)"
"Other bags, such as handbags, may be carried WITHIN the single item of cabin baggage, not in addition."
For more details, see http://www.baa.com -- the security restrictions and limits are flashed up on the homepage.
Have a lovely trip!
Thanks Triffid. We are travelling within Europe to visit OH's new grandson. Have complied with luggage restrictions as you describe. Am not normally a handbag lady but get very miffed when travelling with others who seem to get away with bimbo mentality ie huge hand handbag plus hand luggage, Guess we are lucky to be going at all as most Bristol easyJet flights have been cancelled today because of safety concerns ..... argh! don't really want to go but have to visit new step-grandson. Will post again if I survive!!!!!
