do you have any tips - apart from moderation - that I can pass onto him about managing it?

All the best

My Brother in law has very bad gout and my OH has had it too (it seems to run in his family).  B I L  trys to control it with Water.  He drinks loads of  water to flush out the Uric Acid crystals which causes the gout. He is also on tablets from the Doctor for when the flare ups are really bad, usually when he has eaten Pork or anything from the Pig.  So, I suggest yo try the water treatment.  He drinks about 2 pints of water first thing in the morning.   ;) ;) ;)

There are two forms of gout. Occasional Severe and Mild Chronic
The former is  something which can be trigered by diet, but the latter is permanent and nothing to do with what one eats or drinks. Both painful though. At least the first one only attacks infrequently, the other is there almost all the time.

Good living is doing what you want when you want without repercussion or harm to yourself or others, eating what you want or when you want too. Guess you will have to settle for 2 out of 3 ;D ;D

;D ;D  No. its got to be WATER   :o :o :o  and it works for Bro in law until he got sick of drinking Water.  He is quite a drinker and he managed to swallow WATER  so come on ACE  try it.    Either that or get to the Docs for the tablets.   ;D ;D
