I would like to get some solar lights for my back garden. A friend of mine has some and says his run off solar-rechargeable batteries. They only give off minimal light for approximately 2-3hrs and he has to replace the battery units every 3months or so. I think this rather defeats the object of economy and environment. Any suggestions much appreciated.
What have you got, does it work
What would you recommend, what would you not.
I am looking to buy up to about 10.
we've got about 6 solar lights in our back garden, ours only give enough light to see the edge of the path, I've seen some brighter but these were cheap, so wouldn't recommend them :)
It rather depends on what you want them for and your budget. I got mine this year very cheaply on special offer from a garden centre - I think they were £10 for three. They are black lanterns which you stake into the ground and they give off a low downward glow for about 6 hours every evening from dusk. They illuminate the border sufficiently to give it interest in the dark without upsetting the wildlife. It is recommended that the batteries are changed once a year. I'm delighted with them. :)

Likewise... I no longer risk falling in the pond when staggering back from the arbour on the allotment after a couple of drinks!
