Read the news Steve, how exciting! Dream job huh?!!
;)
Steve. Best of good wishes to you for Christmas and 2007. I so enjoy following the progress on your web. Certainly something exciting to read this time. Good luck, look forward to more updates and photos.
Lorna.
I hope your health stands the pace. I've had two major breakdowns, from totally different things, in the last ten years, and recovered from both. You do get there in the end.
I am so jealous Steve, I am not able to retire for another ten years yet but if you want an apprentice.....
;D
:D Steve a question about rotation I spoke to you before about Crop Rotation but I never got back to you, two books I have contradict each other and differ from you. Collins Kitchen Garden puts potatoes in the same group as roots. Susan Berger Allotment Gardening put onions and roots together also tomatoes and potatoes together. It is confusing when different books and peoples knowledge conflicts, so hears what I am going to do . Potatoes are going on their own in a already well manured patch I will need plenty thats why there on their own, I wouldn't put roots in there for obvious reasons. Neither would I put toms in under your advise and I read somewhere keep them far apart. I know onions get manured and roots don't but I want to try interchanging them to fool the carrot fly I know some people try this and I want to give it a go. What do think Steve does that sound alright and are there any recommendations cheers mate. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I think there's some sense in putting potatoes and toms together if you're growing outdoor toms since they're closely related and both get blight. Separating them by a few yards won't stop the disease spreading as it's airborne and, under the right conditions, grossly infectious.
WOW ;D My dream job as well! Good luck with it Steve!
Yours in Jealousy

Thanks Steve - I really enjoyed reading your blog and looking at the photos. Good luck for 2007 - I look forward to more updates...
Merry Christmas Steve and best wishes for the New Year. Hope you succeed in getting that garden in good shape. GOOD LUCK
Wow, how exciting! Good luck with it, look forward to hearing about it all!
I'll second that! ;D Great news, Steve. Will be watching in earnest.
That looks fantastic Steve, even as it is. I'd love a walled garden and I'm so jealous - can I come and help?
The photo of the wrought iron gate looks just as I imagine the gate to The Secret Garden.
Looking forward to hearing all about it.
What a brilliant project Steve! Many congratulations and I wish you every success with it, though I am sure you will rise very well to the challenge. I will be interested to see how it all progresses. Best wishes, busy_lizzie
we could all meet up and help one day??
You might also find a local business that may help??
A big thankyou to all of you for your messages of support, I hope that I can do the Kitchen Garden as has already been said it is a dream project, I will keep you all posted on my progress, regards Steve.
