Title: I loose another one!
Post by: Mrs Ava on December 15, 2006, 16:23:23
I despair!  I have lost yet another dear dear friend to the dreaded C !  Should I take it personally!!  Shirley was a great gal, a dear mate and the kindest of ladies.  I met her when I worked for a living many moons ago - she was one of the chauffers to one of the VP's.  When she retired she moved to Devon, not that far away from Nan and Grandad so keeping in touch wasn't a problem.

Happy trails Shirl - I'll miss you mate.  :'(

Oh EJ I'm so sorry to hear your news, it's wicked how indescriminate cancer can be. I lost my uncle a little over 18 months ago at the age of 47, only 6 weeks after diagnosis. One of my favourite quotes is (words to the effect of) 'don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened'. Be happy about the life your great friend had and think of the happy times you shared, i know it's hard now but you will get through it. Thinking of you x

Emma, you were lucky that you knew such a special person, that's how I think of it.  I lost a wonderful friend a couple of years ago and was sat in tears thinking of her yesterday as her children were in the school production and she was not there to see it.  Think of the happy times you had with Shirley and that it was lucky you met her.  Take care.

have a hug and remember the good times, I lost both my parents, mum only 50 to it, also two great mates, maureen was special to me,
don't be afraid of goodbyes
a farewell is necessary in order to meet again
and meeting again, after moments, or lifetimes is certain for those who are friends   :-*

Emma, so sorry to hear your news, as others have said hold on to your memories, they always help me.  My thoughts are with you and Shirley's family.

EJ, I am so sorry to hear abut your friend - what rotten news! It is such a horrible disease, that hopefully one of these days will be completely curable. This time of year memories of loved ones we have lost are always so intense - lots of hugs to everyone who is missing and remembering!  :-* busy_lizzie

Emma very, very sorry to here your sad news. Any time of the year is bad but at this time of year it seems to make it worse. Why oh why is there no cure for this terrable disease yet, and why do we seem to be getting so more cases of it nowdays.  Once again so sorry for you Emma, I really do feel for you.
