I have found some bargain manure - but haven't yet got any beds to dig it into. Can I store it until the beds are dug, and if so, how? Compost bins, or just in a heap?
In a heap, covered with e.g. a tarp :)
Mine is stashed in a heap covered with a carpet. hessian side down. dont use carpet with felt. U can also use black plastic.
Thank you
My second question - is there a prize for most persistent asking of stupid questions?
If there is, we're all fighting for it ;D ;D ;D

The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask cause you were afraid of looking silly ;D ;D
Just so you understand, covering the manure is purely to stop the rain washing the nutrients away. If you have nothing to cover it, don't worry, it just means the ground on which it rests will very rich !
I had a load of manure tipped over my hedge aboput ten years ago and that bit where it stood is still fantastically productive!

He who asks the question is a fool for the moment, He who does not is a fool forever
