Point is, what the hell have they done to Plymouth?
And now it's the Post Offices!
You're next!!
Certainly no shortage of calories there Tim, but I don't get it ?
???
Oh, the design - the symbol of Plymouth Gin since God was a boy!!
Tim. Are the contents same quality?
So they say!!
I didn't even recognise it Tim ???- what a shame...
Whats your favourtie gin Tim? I have always been a Gordens girl thanks to my grandad, but the inlaws have bombay blue - which I enjoyed lots of today. I don't know if I have ever partaken in Plymouth gin....I should do being a West Country girl.
I'm more of a Scotch drinker, but Plymouth has been 'my' Gin ever since our 10 days in convoy to Russia in '41. The Navy were not found lacking!!
Wife seems to prefer Beefeaters - was very disappointed recently to find that Bombay was not blue!!
I like the touch about the Monk?
"The new packaging involved a re-creation of the original bottle and included the thirsty monk inside the bottle; when his toes dry out, it's time to replenish. Another wise move was to extend the branding campaign to the gin itself. Following lean years in a weakened state (with the proof down to 37.5% per Allied), Plymouth was restored to its original strength of 41.2%, and a "Navy Strength" of 57% to remind drinkers of the brand's status as the official gin of the British Royal Navy".
" Plymouth doesn't have that great, big slam of some other gins but is light, exceptionally smooth, creamy, and subtle with little bite. Probably in part due to the extremely soft Dartmouth water used in the distillation process. It has a hint of sweetness and the seven botanicals give it a fruity note with a big aroma, but it's also crisp and dry. It's hard to describe, but very nice. It's what I consider to have the classic gin taste. Interestingly enough Plymouth is the gin specified in the original dry martini."
Well, a bottle of Plymouth went into my trolley in Asda today! ;D
On the Carrier, it was always pinkers!
Bombay Sapphire's my best 8) You can really taste the juniper in it. Drink of Distinction is Bombay ;D
But my second fave is Gordon's - as much for the fab presents I get from them as much as anything else......just had a tiny freebie bottle delivered 8)
Just bought a bottle of Bombay Sapphire (£5 off in Tesco) The best ever, but have been Known to enjoy Sir Robert Burnetts. Very dry and juniper tasting.
Not a whisky connoisseur, but I enjoyed a whisky mac tonight AND IT INSTANTLY CURED MY COLD AND SORE THROAT. ;D ;D
I wont think about tomorrow till it comes.... :-\
Ah, but before Beefeaters, there was London Dry! Also excellent! Much preferred it to Gordons, rather drier but then I do prefer savoury to sweet! ;D
Tim, I totally agree. How dare they change the presentation! >:( How on earth are we going to recognise it in the hurly burly of peeps raiding the shelves in the pre Christmas shopping frenzy?
Never understand it myself, after all, shops are only shut for two days :-\
Are youwere you an 'airy fairy Tim?
Never was very 'airy. And if someone had called me a fairy I might have hit them!!
But, keeping it local to you, if you mean did we live on Hayling Island, did my aircraft land near Chidham & did I land on my bottom on West Wittering, then possibly............??
aaaahhhhh, it rumn's in my family too.......!
My mum used to have her holidays on Hayling Island...all the way from sunny Pompy.
I like Gordons but I may have to try Plymouth now ;)
Tilts - we were issued with a quart of rum for our return from Russia!!
....only a quart?! Seems like alot for a splice, a little for being up in the ice!
You have just reminded me that I need to order new ribbons for some personnel seen at the Remembrance parade with frays! Must email myself at work! ish tillly here cud do wiv a tot.....
That was all our water bottles would hold, Tilly! Sadly, we came home in a merchant vessel - DRY: most returned in HMS Kenya - WET!!
Ribbons? Nice idea.
