Title: Secret Santa
Post by: sally_cinnamon on December 08, 2006, 09:48:08
Hello all,
Does anyone else do secret santa?  I have two lots to get this year and have NO decent ideas of what to get.  I always end up buying bath stuff and I wanted to get something a bit more exciting this year.  Any interesting gift ideas?  My budgets are £5 and £15-20.
Thanks!

Gift vouchers from anywhere like Next or M&S, garden token or even a Supermarket, ( & you can order most over the web so you don't even have to go out) then your recipient will like what they eventually end up with because they get to chose it.

I have recycled so many gifts to our local hospice charity shop 'cos they're not my taste.  Oh for a gift voucher........

men or women, are they interested in gardening, wild birds, or don't you know, any authors for books ?   I 've just bought my sister christmassy tights, always good for her as she's christmas mad
bird pouches, ladybird houses, fancy wellies for this flaming rain, warm scarf and hat set for the oncoming winter

all these things are on my wish list and all quite cheap  :D

Both will be women but I don't know exactly who because we don't pick names out of a hat first, we buy a pressie then we lucky dip for them.  Bit backward, but hey!  So it has to be quite generic which is where my difficulty lies!  But yes,, vouchers are always good aren't they.  Fancy wellies...  Hmmmm..... That's outside the normal "gift idea" box!  Great!
;D

How about a scarf for one of them. M&S Cashmillon scarves are £5, or for your more £15-20 one I bet you could get something with silk or cashmere. If you got a neutral colour it could suit anyone.

What a good idea for a pound. I have raided Sainsburys and they are doing large tin of sweets fo £5 instead of £10 but I went for the Fox's biscuits £5 too I like them even more than choccies and you really can't go wrong with them. Peeps can either keep them for themselves or pass them on as another pressie.

I bought a box of Christmas pot pourri for our secret Santa form M&S for £5, it looked very christmassy and I thought that it might be useful to use or pass on as a present.  I often have put in biscuits as I think they are always useful.  Our Waterstones has a rack of books for Secret Santas which is very helpful, wish more shops could do that, it would make life so easy...

Hawkins are always my first port of call when starting the Christmas shop!  Great for the inlaws on Boxing day as we can only spend a fiver per person and with hawkins you can get some fun things for that!
