I know there are some products on the market that enable to compost all food stuffs i.e meat, fish, cooked food etc. Should these be avoided or do they really work? Does anybody use such a product, I know some are very expensive, do the cheaper ones work? Thanks
The wormery type should handle it but we just put non cooked into a dustbin by the back door and take it up the Lottie when itis full.

:) Sunbeam are you talking about the barrel shaped type that you have to keep rotating with a handle I read about them but they cost hundreds, takes all types of foods and breaks down to crumbs in a week or so, don't know if they work ? Oooo, the only thing I seem to remember is one of those bins that you bury...or half bury....and you put that sort of waste into it.....vague now......
I do put fish remains (uncooked preferably) onto the compost heap already, buried well in. Fish blood and bone dontchano! ;D
I bought 2 bags of stuff to help things degrade into compost. Cost £1.50 each. Cant remember name. Could end up being expensive because I had to place another layer (full bag) on top every 6-8 inches. In the end I stopped and just got extra compost bins and waited for it to degrade itself. Took a little longer but saves a fortune. Urinating in the compost bin also speeds up the process. There is a thread on here referring to this. Think its called "to wee or not to wee". Something like that. Tons of replies on it. ;)
