Title: Oooh there's Fungus on me cox
Post by: greatpalm on December 01, 2006, 20:47:55
Or to put it another way, I've got mildew on my apple tree!!

What spray would be best to get rid of it and how often should I be applying it?

Any advise on preventative measures would be most welcome. I have a Cox's Orange Pippin, which I know is very suseptable to mildrew. (unbelievably tasty apples though).

Thanks
Steve

Bordeaux mixture or Dithane will help. Apply according to instructions on pack. Also you can pinch out affected leaves to control it of you get to them early enough. Increasing air circulation helps too.

Maybe thinning out a few branches to improve air circulation would help. Are the branches crowded?

Thanks for the replies

Yes - I'm growing the tree as a fan against a wall, so I guess poor air circulation is going to be a problem.
